Got a cheap flight out to Barcelona in November. Can anybody recommend a good, reasonably priced hotel for 3 nights.
Also, how long does it take to get to the city from the airport and is there good public transport links???
Thanks

good train links from BCN to centre of town, and good bus and underground when there! must take about 20 mins from airport to centre, as airport is very close. I am looking for a budget hotel for next march (2 + 2 kids), so will watch this thread with interest!!:j0

Hi,
Get the aerobus outside of the airport, it costs 3.45euros one way, takes about 20-25 minutes to the Placa Catulonia, that is the centre of barcelona. At the terminus, get off the bus and walk over the road, the tourist information office is underground in the Placa, there they will find you a good deal on a hotel, we sometimes get a 4 star for 80 euros a night in September. They are very helpful, ask to stay near the Placa area, as this is where everything is, and it will save you taxi fares. You must try "Boadas" cocktail bar, it is about 100 metres down La Ramblas next to Pans and Co. on C. Tallers. It is a small traditional bar, where the locals go to drink after the opera, and the origional owner came over from cuba to set the place up. We sometmes fly over just for one night to go there and drink. For the younger set, get a taxi to the port area next to the casino, about 6 euros, there is wall to wall bars in that area down by the boats. Have funThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Sorry, almost forgot, do not let this put you off, as Barcelona is the most fabulous city, BUT LOOK AFTER YOUR HANDBAG!!! Hold it in front of your body-dont worry about looking odd, everyone does it. The gypsy women are very good at showing you their babies and taking your purse off the table. My wife had her handbag taken,I've (nearly) been pick-pocketed. This is a wonderful city, but ihas the title of 'pick-pocket capital of Europe' for a reason. Be vigilant and you'll love it! 20 visits in 6 years we can't get enough of Barcelona! The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Not sure if you can get any good deals anywhere, but my husband stayed in this hotel on business and he said it was lovely.
He knows how dreadful I am about the state of hotels, and he said this is probably the only one he has stayed in Barcelona that I couldn't fault!! So it must be amazing! I am planning on joining him on his next business trip (just need a willing mother in law to look after the baby!)0 -
Try Banys, its in the el born area of barcelona, loads of bars and just a short stroll to las ramblas, its about 90 euros for a double room. https://www.hotelbanysorientals.com0

Just posted this on the Barcelona thread about watching the football but might be helpful:
Re: hotel we actually stayed at an apartment, booked via www.rent4days.com
We stayed at an apartment for 6 on El born which is near Las Ramblas and the port so quite well located and very nice apartment, area is quite nice and trendy too, think we paid about £300 for 4 nights for all of us, would have spent that in a hotel a night easily, also ask them for a discount if you do book, I did and got about 40 euros off, if you need anymore advice or have any questions post back or PM me. HTH.
We heard about Barca being a pick-pocket capital but don't let that put you off, we were fine (maybe a bit lucky?!) but obviously did pay attention and take heed of advice.2p off is still 2p off!0 -
There is also the trick about some 'liquid' landing on your jacket, and some helpful lady turns up to assist with cleaning it off, whilst distracted another person picks your pockets or handbag.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

We stayed at Hotel Catalunya Plaza which is just across from where the airport bus drops you off. Excellent value. Full cooked breakfast, champagne on check in at front desk while you are waiting and 24-hour self-service area which has wine, coffee, water and snacks.

I recommend an excellent website with a wide choice of apartments well located in the heart of Barcelona. Please visit: private-homes.com0

Hello - just got back from barcelona last week and stayed for 3 nigths with friends. We stayed in a good hotel at the heart of Las ramblas - close to everything. Hotel was called hotel jardi and worked out at 40 euros a night each if sharing with one other friend. The hotel gets good reviews on trip advisor and is recommended by the guardian as being good budget option. The rooms are ok - you are really paying for the excellent location. As for getting into barcelona - bus option is fair enough but if there is four of you taxi works out about the same - 20-25 euros and takes around 20 mins. The bus tour - hop on/off is a must - it takes you eveywhere and is reasonabley priced at 31 euros for 2 days.0
