It has doubled over 7 years - I know lower than most but all others have paid up. Shame the Principality isn't going to.0

Just 'phoned Barclays/Woolwich re exit fee I paid on remortgaging last year and am pleased to report I will be receiving £128.20 (including 4% interest) within the next five days. This was on a dedicated line and was so simple and easy to do, no hassle whatsoever. Thank you to Martin Lewis for discussing this on Lorraine Kelly's show this morning.:j0

Thanks Martin,
After seeing you on GMTV, I have taken the advice from here, and after a very easy phone call to the Halifax, the pleasant member of staff dealt with my enquiry, and filled out the request there and then on the phone.
I will be having a cheque for £175 sent to me within 10 days.
Better in my pocket than theirs.
Once again Thanks

After watching GMTV this morning I rang the Halifax and they offered me £35 back. I had also paid £50 fee to release my deeds. When querying this it turns out they still had the deeds and I had never been sent them, so I am also getting the money refunded for this! I also closed a mortgage with the Brittania in 1998 but I dont Know if this is too long ago.
Thanks Martin I am least £85 better off.:j0 -
Just got back £125 from Halifax. Said 28 days, No fuss. Very helpful.
As a financial advisor I was unaware of the FSA ruling. I am registered with the FSA . I read the main industry newspapers, so what chance do the public stand without guys like Martin.
Well done MSE.0 -
I recently received my first annual mortgage statement from the Cheshire Building Society. As well as listing all the credits, (which were correct) and the outstanding balance, it also gave details of early redemption fees. This included a mortgage discharge fee of £150, and early repayment charges of £2776.75!
I have repaid mortgages prior to the agreed term before, but never had early repayment charges like this. Surely this is incorrect?0 -
Have you actually paid of the mortgage with CBS? If the mortgage isn't paid off are you sure they have actually charged you these amounts or only displaying them for information purposes?0

*jumps for joy*
After seeing Martin on GMTV this morning, i got straight on to C&G with whom we changed from in 2003, i didnt even have my old roll#, after a couple of security questions, old postcode, vague dates etc they'd found me, within 3mins i was told i was owed £50+£12.14 interest. Should be with me in 3-4wks!
Then straight onto Halifax, within the first 2mins i was told they were issuing me with a cheque for £100 with their 'apologies'.
So THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU.....took less than 10mins!0 -
We changed our mortgage from the Woolwich to the One Account last year.
We saw Martin Lewis on GMTV this morning, rang the Woolwich this afternoon and without any hassle, there will be £218 going back in to our account in the next 5 days! Thankyou very much!:T0
