Afternoon all, please accept my apologies if this is a repeat of someone elses question but I'm sure we all know the search facility isn't the best feature on this site and I really can't sift through every page on the Vegas threads.
We're looking at Vegas as an option for New Year and current direct prices with BMI and Virgin are hovering around the £500. I'm just wondering if anyone else has travelled over New Year in previous years and can advise whether this is likely to be the best price we can expect.
Thanks in Advance
If you look at American Airlines their fares can be as low as £450, though they are not direct to LAS. (They are to LAX).
With the Mastercard promo you could get 15% off (though only on the base fare-about £30 per flight).
You could also do the Platinum challenge, if you're interested.
I have a cancellable booking at the Weston Casuarina for the Dec 30th until 1st Jan
for $170 per night total for a room for 4 people.
I hope to get a Hotwire bargain closer to the time.(Priceline only guarantees 2 people per room-I may not risk that)0 -
I fly to Vegas in April , a trip I have wanted to take for years. I fly by Delta Airlines, can anybody tell me if there flights are ok (food/drink/movies) ??
Where's the cheapest place to fly over the strip by helicopter ??0 -

I've just done it now. I used priceline.co.uk but have quoted my winning bid on betterbidding in $. Is this okay? Should I also mention that I've done it through the UK arm or doesn't it matter? This is all new territory to me.0 -

The post was fine.
Have you seen these guides for Priceline and Hotwire ?0 -
Congratulations Mardrew - I am going in May so will look forward to hearing about your stay at the Palazzo in March. It looks amazing. £80 is an absolute bargain. Have a fantastic time. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

Thanks Mollybrush. I am so looking forward to the trip. I am wondering what I will do with all my time when I get back. I seem to be spending all my free time (plus time I shouldn't) reading up on Las Vegas and LV hotels! I know everyone views hotel accommodation differently but part of my holiday is looking forward to going somewhere and knowing I have got 'nice' accommodation. I know you don't spend much time in your rooms but it is part of the overall package and experience for me. I'm also a firm believer that, with a bit of research, you can get good accommodation at a price you would pay for mediocre accommodation, without research. (With regards to the LV hotels it has all been down to the kind people who have shared their knowledge and experience on here.) I have just worked out that our accommodation for the 7 nights i.e 3 nights at The Signature (as long as they let me change my booking and have these 3 nights at the original rate) and 4 nights at the Palazzo is going to cost £631 and this is a school holiday period. I know this may seem a lot to some people but it is under my original budget, and I always say it's worth what it is to you.

PS Blindman, I had read those excellent posts. I had been keeping a note of a lot of the winning bids and a lot of them are slightly higher than my price.0 -

try all the company's listed on the guide for grand canyon. obviously there is not much point in flying over the canyon in pitch blackness , so they operate flights over the strip at Night.
you should have very little problem booking this when you arrive . check out all the free magazines for offers ect. i think £40-£50 per person is average , but you may find savings on that .
here is a example of a this type of trip (we took this one with a 2 for 1 price , because we used this company for our Grand Canyon flight)
http://www.heliusa.com/tour-las-vegas-helicopter-flight-n02.htmOMG, You are not going to believe what I've just done - I'm still shaking as it's my first time!!! I've only bid through Priceline and had my bid accepted for the Palazzo for 4 nights of our 7 night stay. The winning bid price was £80 per night and this is for a Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday. I can't believe it. (My initial 3 night bid was rejected, so I changed the number of nights so I could rebid, hence my question below.)
So I now need to cancel my booking at the Mirage - I had just got price confirmation through from them of quite a drop in price as well.
I've currently got our first 4 nights booked at The Signature. Is it usually okay to cancel 1 night from the booking and still keep the original rates for the other nights? (I'm so hoping I've not mucked anything up.)

PS Will this make me the first poster to stay at the Palazzo as we will be there from 28 March?
  wow great deal Mardew . be sure to let us all know what the Palazzo is like.
can i offer a small piece of advice though. if you are going to take photos for us to see what the rooms are like , do it when you arrive in the room , and before you unpack. i,ve lost count of the times i've took photos of a great hotel room to show folks back home , with my stuff spread out everywhere making it look a proper mess :rotfl: .
i doubt you will have any problems amending your existing bookings , but i would say better to do it over the phone , and then get a confirmation E-Mail

Me too, just gone on a major learning curve about California as a whole. I also enjoy the challenge of having a luxury holiday on a budget and picking up tips and info from all over. I have had the most fantastic help and support from people on this and other travel threads. Don't think I could have done it without! So exciting :jThere are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0 -
Hey ferf, i heard you mention that your planning to go vegas around september/october time in one of your earlier posts. I posted awhile back that we were also planning to go mid september time and the average deals we are getting are (based on 3 adults, i think 2 rooms)
virgin flight, london
Hotels: NYNY, MGM, Planet hollywood, Mirage
7 nights
£900-950pp
Is that the average deal?
is there any better ways to go about it, ie wait nearer the time??

AprilThanks to all who responded to my NYE in vegas query. We've moved an a tad since I posted and decided that we don't have to be away over NYE and therefore we're gonna fly probably 2nd Jan and stay 5 nights which has made the possible flights look a little cheaper but also an initial look at hotels has thrown this up which I see as a good deal but am willing to accept comments to the contrary?
Mandalay Bay total cost for 2nd-7th King room 2 people $829.950
