Hi ,has anyone had a success claiming bank charges via the "Financial Ombudsman"?? Replies welcome.
Hi transit i think the answer you was after is yes alot of people have won by ombudsman you just have to be patient as they are very busy with these types of complain.
The ombudsman are very good when you are skint and carnt really afford to take them to court, you feel like you are doing something other than counting the pennys till you can fford court.
Good Luck whichever route you decide to take.;)0 -
The banks time is nearly up since I sent my 2nd letters threatening court action.
However, if the FO is quicker at sorting this out, then obviously i would rather go to them, than to use the court system.
Has anyone got any advice as to the quickness of the settlement of claims between the two???0 -
Its 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other. You need to have been dealing with the bank for 6/8 weeks before the FO will take on your case and then they have to contact the bank and wait for a reply. Having said that quite a few people have had a good result within 3/4 weeks.0

Thanks for that.
Im claiming for 2 nat west accounts at the moment - £474 and £831 plus interest.
Got alot of "waiting for charges info" on credit cards before i can start claiming on them.
Do you suggest then that I wait another couple of weeks after my 2nd letter deadline and use the FO? then it would be 6 weeks from 1st letters (or do you mean 6/8 weeks from requesting charges info?)0 -
I believe it is 6/8 weeks from your first letter asking for the charges before the FO will take on your case and you may well get an offer from Natwest in the meantime.0

Havent had any response from nat west at all as yet, and reading the threads here, it seems that nat west let you start the court proceedings and then pay up, but that could be another 28 days!
Like everyone on here, i would rather not start court proceedings (my situation is a single parent, 2 kids, not alot of money), and want a quick result with minimum of fuss and stress.
Would the FO deal with credit card claims too? (This would be quite a while though as they havent even sent me my charges info-and the majority of those cards were paid off and closed)
Oh by the way, do you know an address for the FO, and what details i would need to send to them?
All info much appreciated. Thanks0
