Well I got mine but have to say it tastes disgusting!!! I'm going to keep it for my skin as I really can't bear the taste of it - even cooking it leaves this tang on my food - maybe it's just my own tastes but bleurgh!!!!!

    i know, its vile!!!
I put a tablespoon in a tub and sit it in boiling water until it melts, then down it like a shot. I always make sure i have juice handy to take away the horrid taste though!!
I dont really use it for cooking much either. occasionally with Quorn or eggs it is ok.
    Hope this helps u.xx

might try it that way,....followed by a slug of red wine:rotfl:

I bought the cheapy jar at the chinese supermarket in Maryhill the other day but am scared to take too much in case I irritate my gall bladder probs. I put a wee scraping in coffee last night and was ok with that tho i think its definitely an aquired taste

I was kinda expecting my coffee to taste creamy, but I really want to persevere with it

I tried it first with a huuuge dollop in my coffee thinking it would be all creamy and yummy and nearly heaved!!!! I can't do it - I cooked some mushrooms and they went rank as well

Using it on my elbows and heels at the mo:D

I'd imagined that I would put some in a separate tub to use for my skin, but its really solid

This has probly been asked before but do you melt it first, I was goin to use it the same way as salt scrub in the shower. How do you apply it???

I dont use coconut oil for cooking but I use it with cocoa butter (half and half) to make a moisturiser but it works quite good on its own.

THought this website might help everyone save a bit of money by buying it in bulk (as it doesnt go off for ages)

Cosmetic grade coconut oil can be bought from

    http://newdirectionsuk.com/shop/products.php?id=10&cp=1

    1kg is £5.00
    5kg is £20.00

Its a really good (and cheap;)) site to get raw materials for beauty products aslongs as your not too fussed about not ingesting it!

i use a spoon to scoop it into a separate tub. it melts at body temperature, so i just take a cliump and rub it on my skin and it melts on contact. I've never used it as a salt scrub before. Can u let me know if it is any good?

  • I've got a bag of dead sea minerals sat in the bathroom, do you guys think it would be a good idea to mix the salts with coconut oil to make a body scrub?

I'Ve mixed dead sea salts with ordinary shower gel and with olive oil before and both worked pretty good. I'd imagine it would work with cocnonut oil too, but you would prob need to melt it first. i might give this a go also!
