We had a thread on this yesterday, so I'll merge your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

Lucie, so sad I don't live nearer you.The Bonne Maman jars are the very best for jam - look nice, and wide necks.

Hi all,
Wondering if I could pick your collective brains about where to get a limited number of jam jars from? I'm only looking for 4 or so 8oz ones - I'm making chutney and I only want to do a small batch the first time in case it goes wrong!
Ebay and Lakeland both sell them but in packs of at least 12, which is too many and I don't want to get stung for postage. We don't get through a lot of jars here so reusing our empties is not practical.
Thanks in advance!0 -
I bought 4 jars from Fenwick's in Leicester, I don't think these many of those department stores about though. I paid 95p each which might be abit over the top but I didn't want to chuck away all our home grown toms either.
I shall deffenltly be saving jars from now on.
I would try Wilkinsons as well.0 -
What about asking neighbours if they could let you have any empties?Jane

I have wondered round Asda before looking for the cheapest food in jars. I got 1lb jars of spaghetti sauce (vile stuff, I threw it down the sink it was so runny and tomato free that it just washed right down) for about 20p each0

Oooh, speedy replies!
I shall try our John Lewis and local shops to see if they do them - it sounds like you can get them individually which is a bonus.
I'll have a quick pop round the neighbours as well and I might also try Freecycle. If the chutney making goes well I won't mind paying for jam jars as I was hoping to get Christmas presents out of the chutney - it will save me the bother of scraping labels off!
Thanks again everyone!0 -
