And our local pick your own had a selection of jars that people had donated. You could just take what you wanted as long as you gave a small donation to charityComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Can anyone point me in the right direction of where I can buy jam jars (cheaply if poss) so I can make jams/chutneys for xmas please0

Hi,
My mum makes lots of jam etc so I am now just in the habit of keeping thme for her rather than throwing them out or recycling.
Why not ask your friends and family if they have any spare - alternatively, if you work in an office, ask your colleagues to help you gather some together.
Otherwise IKEA sell kilner jars, which are lovely as a presentation jar, or try an old fashioned iron mongers type shop.
HTH helps a littler.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
You can buy jam jars on ebay. Not Buying it 2015!0

lakeland also sell jam jars, lids, and kilner jars.i make lots of jams and chutneys and usually use saved jam jars, the ones with metal lids are fine.
make sure you wash and sterilise them properly, labels easily soak off in warm soapy water and any sticky bits will come off with wd40 or nail polish remover.
Ask friends and family to save you some you will soon get a stock, and much cheaper than buying them. make some paper or cloth circles ,fix with elastic bands or nice cord to cover the lids - voila- lovely gifts. You can even make your own labels to match or attach tags.

Hi all OSers.
Now im hoping you can help me.
Close by where I live, there are a squillion blackberry bushes. when I take doggy out for walks I have a good look at them and work out how good a crop i'll be able to snafflelooking good. So im going to turn my hand at jam making for a wheeze.
However, I NEVER have jars anymore. Ever. No longer do I buy ( nor am willing to) buy the likes of uncle bens sauces, or anything of that ilk.
Im putting a freecylce ad up, and have asked mates- they are fully converted to OSing now- so they dont have jars either!
Does anyone have any ideas what OS product comes in jars? Ill have one or two from my peanut butter addiction, but other than that- what can I buy- and use- before the crop comes? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
value pickles are really cheap - onions and red cabbage especially.
Personally I'd wait a few days and see what your freecycle group turns up, but otherwise it will be cheaper to buy value products than to buy proper empty jam jars.0 -
You could always stash them and freeze them until you track down a jar. Just pop them into freezer bags and away you go.Dirty Cash- DEBT BATTLER:mad:0
