I've used coffee jars for marmalade before now-if I have to do that I try to use those jars up first
Does anyone you know eat honey? I often use honey jars -it's about the only thing I buy in jars apart from coffee.0 -
Car boot sales are always good.
You easily get old jars that look really good for pennies, you dont need the lids, my grandma always used to make her jam cover it with parchment paper and cover the top with fabric tied with string.
Looks great in your cupboards and costs pennies.

do you have a canteen at work? If so they will have lots of empty jars every day but they may be quite largeIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Tesco value mint sauce and Sainsburys are only about 3p a jar at the moment. Dump the contents and keep the jars“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

OK these don't come with something but IKEA (if you have one near you) have excellent jars for jam, the type with the rubber seal and metal clip (SLOM) , in an assortment of sizes, when the jam is finished you have them for next time or something else.
Just checked site and the smallest is 0.5l for 99pWeight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0 -
My kids love a yoghurt from Lidl that comes in a big chunky jar. Once you wash them out they are great to put all sorts of things in. I think the Yoghurt is about 69 p.:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will. :dance:0

Honey is in the right shape/size jar. Olives, but they tend to be in long, slim jars though I don't suppose that matters? Jalapinos, capers, mayonnaise.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

If you use leftover jars to make jam in the best ones are mayo jars - they are the best-made ones cause if the glass isn't even it looks like a balck spot in the mayo!
But you have to make sure that whatever jar you use can be sealed again properly so that no air can get in- people have died from food poisoning from jam that has gone off after not being sealed properly. It doesn't taste or smell off, but can be deadly!
Clean the top and inside above the jam in the jar well and use parrafin wax to seal them, and/or buy proper jam jars; they can last forever so they really aren't that expensive if you think about how often you'll use them.0 -
I seem to get a steady stream of jars despite the fact I don't but processed food. They are all different sizes mind you. This is what I buy in jars:
tomato puree
olives
pickled onions
sun-dried tomatoes
roast peppers
mayonnaise
egg-free mayo for dd
chocolate spread -occasionally
capers
mango chutney
honey
mustard
When I started preserving I invested in a box of jam jars and lids from Lakeland which are mostly still going strong.

You eventually get to a point where you don't need to save them anymore as tyou have so many. Ask everyone you know to save them for you.0 -
ah, thats not so bad, I forgot about honey & mayo.
We dont bother with olives, or pickles overly.
I do wish people would stop sending lakeland links... cor that is one site where I dont need anything but boy do I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed :rotfl::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
