There was no Brighton Rock dvd in today's Telegraph (in the three shops I tried); was this just a local problem?

Got one in Doncaster today, perhaps they are issuing them in different areas on different dates.

  • Darn, it's already been posted ... "The Man who knew too much" in next Sat's Guardian ...

It's the 1934 version, which is b&w made before Hitch went to Hollywood. The 1956 remake was also done by Hitchcock, and is probably better known as it stars Doris Day (singing "Que Sera, Sera", written for the film) and James Stewart. This version is still excellent though.

For those who like to spot the appearance of him in his films, look away now ;-). From the boards of IMDB:
"He's in the early scenewhere Leslie Banks is handing round enormous whisky-and-sodas to a roomful of police. The camera swings to the left and you see him in profile for about half a second". [posted by mick-137]
  • Not sure where on MSE this should be posted, as it only really applies to people who bought the Guardian yesterday (Sat).

If you did buy it, it probably came with a free DVD of the Sony Bravia advert (bouncing balls in San Fransisco - "color like no other").

If you like the music to the advert - "Heartbeats" by Jose Gonzalez - take this DVD into any Sony Centre and they'll exchange it for a different DVD with two versions of the song "Heartbeats" by Jose Gonzalez on it plus some other stuff.

Again, not really a grabbit, but wasn't sure where to post - sorry.

Dissapointed to discover that there was no DVD in my Telegraph when I checked. Only just opened the paper at 10.30, I was going to take it to bed to read. Too late to do anything about it now as the paper shop shuts at 10.00 p.m. on Sundays and it's doubtful they would have had any left anyway. I must learn to check them straight away in future.
