Can u have a quick check of the link in your browser - does it say forums.moneysavingexpert.com:8080/ if so get rid of the 8080 and carry on - if the 8080 magically reappears can u let me know in here.
thanks

Someone please tell me I am not going mad, I am certain that along the top, there was a 'Chat' button, where 'User CP' now sits, next to 'Main Site'. Whenever I am in pm's, I always get back to the main forum, by clicking the 'Chat' link, however today I found myself in 'User CP'.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Hi Neil,
I also run a very busy site handling several thousand page views a minute. Something I noticed before your upgrade, and have had another look now and is still happening, is that your forum is serving up pages that make every effort in the book not to be cached. The strongest of these being the following headers in every HTTP response to a forum thread view:
Cache-Control: private
Pragma: private
To understand the effect of this, consider somebody going into page 1 of a 5 page thread. If they then read through the 5 pages, 9 out of 10 users will then click "Back" 5 times to return to the forum index (they do this so as not to lose their place in the active list). On your current setup, this is resulting in another 5 fresh page loads and forum DB hits - in other words you have had to serve up 10 pages when 5 would do.
Multiply this by the number of people constantly going in and out of threads and it will be adding a considerable amount of unnecessary load on your servers. There are certain forum pages that should be cached, but at your level of traffic unless there's a good reason to be doing so (my apologies of course if there is) I would strongly recommend having a look into this!0
