I really really hate the guy and the sooner he is off the TV the better.
His blog comments and telly talk is mostly doom and gloom scare-mongering but the beeb know most viewers fall for it and regard him as some sort of demi-god!
As long as the BBC decide their news 'reporters' have to be conceited, smug, self-righteous and have a gift in panicing people then he will still have a job.0 -
The last ten years has seen a great decline in the integrity of the Beeb, as we need new news every half hour, they need to find things to report - speculation isn't news. Mr Peston shouldn't be allowed to go on the evening news spouting doom. I remember when you used to get football news that had actually happened - Teletext used to be fact only, most of BBC sport is gossip pulled from tabloids. For shame....0

I think hes great to be honest. A refreshing change from the normal BBC clone.0

I don't mind all that so much as his silly voice - rising and falling pointlessly and stressing inappropriate words. I soon lose track of the actual content altogether. It always sounds as though he's trying to make what he's saying sound dramatic and important when it obviously isn't.
Very, very annoying.0 -
" bring back Evan Davies "
Hear Hear. But I guess he can't do EVERYTHING - he's on Today first thing in the morning and Dragon's Den in the evening. And he made a terrific TV programme which I watched last week all about banking. Made it almost understandable.0 -

He's acknowledged in the past, that he's not a polished tv broadcaster and his debt especially to Huw Edwards for guidance.

My impression is that he's actually quite humble about his broadcasting weaknesses, which is a vastly different picture from some of the things he has been labelled in this thread.0 -
what worries me is that the BBC are still letting him spout all this negativity, specifically in a time when positivity is needed
Isn't the UK economy partly in this position because too many people preferred to prolong the "good times", rather than accept a much-needed dose of reality?0 -
I think you've misunderstood the reason- he has a speech impediment

Peston seems to have boosted his career on the backs of other peoples' miseries. How much do the BBC pay him for all this, I wonder? What with him and various government ministers spouting on about "green shoots of recovering in the economy and housing markets ", I'm beginning to think I'm living in Alice in Wonderland.0
