I wasn't aware that there was any connection between the Xmas bonus and the January supplement.

I can't find any mention of anything but State Pension (£60) and Child Benefit (£22) in the Pre-Budget Report itself.

A quick google brings up one or two carers' websites that show a list of benefits but they don't say where they got the information from.

    How much do you get?

Christmas Bonus is a one-off payment of £10. For 2008 an additional payment of £60 will be paid between January 2009 and March 2009.

I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
  • bizzylizzy as your claims are both in your own respective names i would think that you would each recieve the £60 as far as i am aware it,s just one bonus per person not per family.

Really?? It would be brilliant if that was the case - but I'll hold off celebrating until I actually see it.....
I'm not going to add it into my budget either so I'm not disappointed (but will have my fingers crossed behind my back!)

is it per person or per benefit? I mean if you get 2 qualifying benefits, do you get 2 bonuses?
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

This must be why we only get the one. My son has been awarded the DLA for him but as he is a minor it is paid to me, as is the CA.

That's irrelevent, I get a Christmas bonus for myself and one each for my two sons who get DLA (as they're minors I deal with their claims). I also receive a letter each year pointing out the bonus for my sons and detailing it is THEIR bonus and has no effect on mine.

If you don't both receive a bonus I would contact the office dealing with your claim and query why you don't both get it.

No, you will also get the £10 xmas bonus as well as your son.
My DS has had his in this months DLA and I have received a letter off carers allowance to say I will also get the £10 xmas bonus in next weeks carers allowance.

edit: sorry posted at the same time as peanuckle !!!

  • Thank you I will look out for it. It's probably just that I've made a mistake. Lack of sleep at that time of year can do that to you!!! Thanks again.
