Bai are at https://www.baidata.com (or something like that)
When you register, you should get offered a free course which is about 4 hours long and well worth going on. You get advice and a booklet so that you know what you can and cannot claim as tax deductable and which records you need to keep.
eg: The sort of info I picked up
Mileage rate for tax purposes is 40p/mile but if you are working from an office then you can't claim home->office and office->home. Example given was that a cleaning lady who worked from home couldn't claim from home to first house because it was a regular weekly thing but could claim from 1st to 2nd etc but beautician could claim because she goes to different places every time.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
I've now done 5 assignments and am beginning to think that maybe the effort is not worth the pay. I wasn't expecting anything more than pocket money but I am an adult and expect adult pocket money not a childs!
I spent nearly 2 hours in a well known DIY place yesterday plus another 1/2 hour on paper work for £10 and no petrol allowance and that was one of the better paid jobs.
Grocer shop one would have cost me more than I got back if I wasn't already going in the first place.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

you might find that you get faster with the questionnaires as time goes by,they take me no time at all now
If its the DIY store i do regularly with Grassroots ? there is no way you should have taken 2 hrs plus another 30 mins on the questionnaire !!!
Im in store for about 30 mins then another 15 mins on the questionnaire0 -

Hi everyone,
I'm new to mystery shopping and I'm really sorry but I haven't got time at the moment to read back through the thread (I'm sure the answers are in there somewhere).
Would someone be kind enough to answer a couple of questions for me?
I did my first mystery shop (Grassroots) a couple of weeks ago and I now have another two booked -I need to sort this tax malarky out - how do I go about it???
One of my two that I'm waiting to do (again Grassroots) has a spend of £40 on it (in a shop). I can't see anything that says if I have to return what I buy to Grassroots or do I get to keep it??
Many thanks to anyone who can help me
ps. This MS is fun - hope I get some restaurants soon :jDebt at Highest: £11,630.10 (May 2006) Debt now: £0.00 !!!!Married to the man of my dreams :A - Sat 2nd June 20070 -
you need to register as self employed
you can print the form online or call up and do it over the phone. You will then need to complete a tax return
which i am reeeeeeally looking forward to ! lol
on your brief does it say reimbursements £40 ? if so you get to keep the purchase if not does it state that you need to go through the returns process ?
doh i see you say it doesnt state on the brief,if in doubt about any aspect of the assignment give them a quick call to clarify0 -
Thank you Rachie B - it says I will be reimbursed the £40 when I get paid for doing the MS - can't see anything on the brief about returns?

HI,
I have my first assigment with grassroots on sat and I just wanted to check that I have to type in the answers to the questionnaire online? Does the questionnaire that they email you appear on the website and you just type in your replies? Bit worried it's going to take ages...
Thanks,
