With the help of Google, I've started to make a Paper Mache Pig.

Its not going well and my bath room looked like a bomb had gone off in a pot of erm some kind of liquid! Its drying at home so hopefully it will resemble something better than a load of soaked newspaper around a balloon which is what it did this morning!

I can remember making one at Guides many years ago, the description of the room made me laugh, imagine that mess multiplied by 20 and you can imagine what the church hall looked like! Funnily enough we only did it once:confused: can't for the life in me think why.

I got my ebay piggies today and I HATE them! They are hideous in person. I think I'll have to find something else, because I can't imagine 'listening' to their advice for the next ten years!

Just spent last couple of hours debating the name of our pig with DD. She kept coming up with female names, and "the Pig" is definitely a male........so now we have a "gay" mortgage pig called Truffle. This is quite apt due to the pig/truffle sniffing thing, also I love truffle oil, OH hates the smell of the stuff, so can always threaten him that I will use the oil, unless he feeds Truffle.

I completely agree - it's also got to have some element of fun/nonsense otherwise it all seems too hard sometimes

Most of all thanks to HSBC Internet Banking.

I bought my first place in Feb. Every time I log into Internet banking, my mortgage is included in my list of accounts. Currently reading "£114,823.46 D". *sob*

Even more depressing that that's after one payment - started at 115k, then 800 squid disappeared from my account and it dropped by £170. :( (don't panic I wasn't ripped off with IR - it was a high first payment)

I love the idea of the mortgage pig, and have the perfect nook in my kitchen for one. Sign me up. :) Might have to fill him up a few times to get my banking login screen looking friendlier.

oooooooo now I'm regretting selling my pig at a car boot last year.....

Off to 'find' a pig at the weekend and to start force feeding him frantically.

Many many thanks to the OP for this fantastic idea. Ta!

I have been told that mine will be online soon (barclays) and will be there for the next 10 years  - still it will be realtime reminder that the "DEBT" is there and powers to be to get it paid off quickly :)

Now waiting for my piggy from pigsback, and looking to sell a few things on ebay to make a start.
  • I haven't done the sums yet, but would the efforts of your mortgate-free-2-B assistant - be it pig, gorilla or aeroplane - be enhaced by clinging onto your loot until the christmas savings bonus's from the supermarkets? it's not that long to wait!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I have two saving items here...... the pig one that one of the children got years ago from a bank and a large bottle. A long time ago the bottle was put in the corner, the pig is far more effective to save. Its always been my christmas coin collection! piggie has £43 in it. small coins go in the bottle then this is changed into pounds that then go into piggie. Am so sad that it is logged on MS money!

However I do over pay my mortgage and recken that i will have it paid in under half the term.

have had a wicked thought, as I have been doing this for years (so quite methodical), I could sell piggie on ebay(I still have bottle) as there is suddenly a lot of interest in piggies, and increase my christmas fund!!!!

    ONLY JOKING PIGGIE :-)

While searching on ebay, I just ran across this seller who is selling off her mother's moneybox collection! Perhaps she read this thread and decided to take advantage of eager buyers? :rotfl:

In any case, lots of weird and wonderful characters to choose from to be your mortgage pig/bear/cat/etc.
