As hubby likes his yogurt unsweetened and I like mine semi-sweet, I buy all unsweetened Easyio and add a little Splenda to mine.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0

I think the "kit" (yogurt maker/container to store in fridge) is about £14 ... either online or at Julian Graves.
Each sachet varies for about £1.40 to £1.85 (depending on whether you want plain or flavoured). Each sachet makes one litre of yogurt. If you buy bulk on line, you get far more choice and free postage.
You only have to add water to the powder and boiling water to the container you house the yogurt in to set (I leave it overnight, though you can leave it for up to 24 hours).
Yes, I think it's well worth buying personally. The ingredients are great and good for you and, if you're worried about the sugar content, just buy unsweetened and add your own substitute if you wish. They're also very tasty, last for up to 2 weeks in the fridge and are extremely easy and quick to make ... even hubby can manage it and he flatly refuses to try anything in the kitchen usually:rolleyes:.
We had our kit for Christmas last year and it's constantly in use. Probably the best and most useful pressie we've ever had.
We get our yogurt online from www.yogurtdirect.co.uk.
Hope this helps.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
I've bought at least three yog making kits going back many years and never had success - even if it set it always tasted thin and sharp. But (and I'm not on commission - honest) the Easiyo system is fantastic, it works every time, tastes really great and is much cheaper (once cost of kit re-couped) If I'm feeling v tired or lazy I use the sachets, otherwise just longlife milk and a tablespoon of starter and some Marvel ( see this thread for clear descriptions) and that's it. Would not be without it now !0

Hi all,
This is my first post on here although I have been reading the hints and tips for some weeks now.On Friday I took the plunge and bought an easiyo yohurt maker and made up the sachet of starter yogurt that can with the kit. It worked ok but I have to say I don't like the flavour - it's so sharp. I then made a batch using UHT milk etc, again it has come out fine but I don't like the taste. Am I doing something wrong? The first batch tasted much better when I whisked in a tin of strawberries and some sugar but I didn't want to add loads of sugar.
By the way I have been addicted to Tesco healthy living strawberry yogurts for some months so maybe it's just a case of my taste buds adjusting!!
many thanks for any advice you can offer.0 -

It largely depends on what you've been used to. Was the yogurt you used unsweetened? If so, just add some Splenda or Xylitol ("Perfect Sweet" from Holland & Barrett) to it. I like mine semi-sweet and just add a little Xylitol to mine. By the way, Xylitol is a natural birch sugar ... great for dental health and low in calories and looks/tastes just like sugar. It's a "natural" sweetener and though it's not that cheap, I use it all the time (I'm not on commission, honest!).Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
Thanks mimijane I'll try adding some sweetner and look out for xylitol next time I'm in Holland and Barret. The yogurt I used was unsweetened so that was probably the problem.
Thank you for your quick reply - I don't feel like I've wasted my money now!0 -
jack7, my son was the same as you. He was hooked on Yeo Valley and decided that he didn't like the Easiyo. I now add a bit of sugar along with the powder and he thinks its fab. My only consolation is that at least I control the amount of sugar added.0

I think you'd end up with yeuchy raw cornflower in your yog if you did that. I'd think you'd have better luck if you made up thin custard and then tried to yog that. Just a guess mind. I think if you wanted to be able to bung all powdered ingredients together rather than making up custard I'd guess powdered egg might have more potential than custard powder.
Just adding to the HM yog a bit of vanilla essence and yellow food colouring (which only simulates the presence of egg in real custard anyway) plus sweetening to taste would probably work.0 -
I was looking for something else on e-bay ast week and noticed several easiyo makers so I don't suppose everyone sticks with it and there may be a good value purchase to be made there0
