Whilst this doesn't exactly put money in your pocket it saves you some, I registered with the Mystery Dining Company a few months ago and get reimbursed for a meal for myself and between 1-3 guests in return for completing a questionaire on the food, service and environment. It works out to be about 1 booking per month but I think it depends on where you live and how many customers they have in the area.
I was wary at first, but all the money has been paid into my bank promptly each time.
To register, their website is https://www.mysterydining.co.uk0 -
One quick note on website creating (something i know a wee bit about).
The truth behind it is that to make a website work you need content. Having revenue generating features is fine, but they generate revenue from users, so you need those too. So if you're creating a website ask yourself
1. Who is going to use it
2. Why are they going to use it
3. What will i have on my site that will draw people to it
4. How will i tell people about it

So you Want a Site?
For the record, my site is around 5 years old which is how I'm in the position of being able to sit back and do very little work on it right now... when I was at Uni I spent all my spare time (and more) on my website just to get it to the point where it could pay for itself!
Thanks for keeping it real Martin amd for reminding myself and many others that a website isn't the quick fix or the easy money maker that others reading this may think! (And I'm sorry if I gave anyone the impression that it was easy money - it is for me now, but I have worked for it!)The only computer error is a human one.0 -
Back on the topic of ways of making money somebody mentioned earlier you can volunteer for medical trials. If that worries you then you can just give blood instead and get paid up to £100. See http://www.trials4us.co.uk/
Haven't tried it myself.0 -
You could join the TA? My OH does this and bring in between £150 and £350 after tax a month for doing something he really enjoys and would do for nothing - in fact even better its his main hobby so it doesn't cost us anything for him to have a hobby. He also gets around £600 a week after tax for the two week camp he does with them each year and a tax free bonus of £1250 every April.
Other perks include invites to cool things (we are going to the Swiss Guard 500th anniversary celebrations in Rome next year). He also gets a smart uniform suitable for whenever black tie is the dress code. He wore it for our wedding too and so we saved there on wedding outfits (also the best man and two ushers wore uniform).
If you are in the TA you qualify for MOD discounts too, some companies are very generous with these.
Of course you do have to be vaguely fit and healthy and be able to commit one night a week, one weekend a month and two weeks a year. Most employers give extra holiday for it though.
Just an idea anyway, and its something a bit different.0 -
aliwatts wrote:Hi to all of you great money savers,
I have been reading through all these great ideas and think they are great. I am really interested in creating my own website but am not very IT minded. Is it easy and who is recommended to get what you all keep calling web hosting from, is this for your web address?? Do you have to know much about HTML or is this quite automatic?
I have been a member of yougov for ages but don't make hardly anything there, havent had a cheque yet!!!!
Thanks for any advice given....

There are various companies out there that do party-plan ie you go into someones house and show product and people buy. I love candles and get mine cheap by selling products made by Partylite. The great thing is I love meeting people and love the product and don't even feel like it's work. I also love doing scrapbooking. Now that CAN get a bit expensive. Collecting stash as it's called is addictive. Mind you signing up with topline creations gets you cheap stuff and there are very small minimum yearly sales. I get a hefty reduction and if anyone buys stuff off me that is a bonus. In fact I've even made a website in the last 2 weeks with a shop front. This has allowed me to contact various suppliers and I will soon be stocking other things for all the folks I'm getting hooked... :T I am hoping to give up my day job (not just yet) and as such am having fun doing my hobby and encouraging others to join me (who then buy stuff). This all supplements the cost of my hobby. My web site was a cheapy through web mania and has cost me under £50 for a year including my domain name (2 years fee). **sorry, no links to sites you have a financial interest in** A friend helped me, but I have basically used notepad and done an awful lot of copying and pasting. There are a few hitches - can't sort those links out yet but hey ho - the important stuff is ok. Good luck everyone.0

Hi, found this information in another part of MSE forum, thought might be useful to post it here aswell in case you don't look at the other forum. Another great way to make a bit of cash. Will thank the person who posted this there aswell.

Register to become a Matalan 'Counter Intelligent Agent' (basically mystery shopping). Once registered you will be advised of available time slots and suitable areas. All you have to do, once you have booked a slot, is make a purchase (keep the receipt) and fill in an online questionaire. They will then send you £10 in the post!
