really, i didnt know! thanks for that.

this announcement that i posted comes on the day British Gas announces record profits! There was an old couple in our region who this year froze to death in their own home because they couldnt afford the heating expenses. This spurred the millionaire into paying their neighbours fuel bills, to make sure it didnt happen to anyone else. I think it's wonderful of him and I wish there were more people like him.

    Do you live in Russia?

Seriously have you any link to the news story about a couple 'freezing to death'?

It sounds like an 'urban myth'.

ok, perhaps poor choice of words. it was on our local news. a couple were found dead in freezing conditions.
I sympathise cos our house averages about 15c and we cant afford to heat it any more than that, cos of the £500 electric bill we ran up last year, using 2 storage heaters, which we're still paying off!

Had a look at that site ... as advertised on itv's tonight programme too.

Looks like the same principle that the Pipeline card was set up on by Ben Scammell in 2005 promising low price petrol prices. Whatever happened to that? Oh yeah, they grabbed a load of sign ups and tried to convince people to save money using a certain utility company that shall not be mentioned except in a certain thread.

This new energy company appears to be based on exactly the same principle. It isn't currently supplying energy. It requires people to register on their site in the hope of getting enough interest to buy energy from someone
(I wonder who that could be if it's not the existing suppliers???)
The company was incorporated about 6 months ago? I wonder what it's been doing until today?
I wonder why the guy doesn't team up with Scammell who already has a list of potentially interested people ... other than he probably won't pay Scammell any commission.

As others have said, there is already a non-profit energy supplier operating in the UK ... and has been doing so for about 10 years now.

They are called Ebico ... but even though they are non profit making, they are not usually the cheapest either.
And don't forget, just because a company is non-profit making doesn't mean they don't make a surplus. ;)

In fact the MD of Ebico was on working lunch recently and openly admitted if they didn't make money, just like any other company they would soon go bust.

Btw, how much research has this guy Matthew Stockdale actually done into this new company he's trying to establish? He either doesn't even know about Ebico, or fails to mention that they already exist as a non-profit making energy supplier ... but Ebico are certainly not a charity and I don't believe Stockdales company is either even though he hints at being one on his website

Furthermore he doesn't seem to know the probable market size yet. Well Stockdale, if you read this, here's a bit of market research for you for free. Ebico after 10 years of trading as a non-profit making energy supplier have attracted about 55,000 customers. ;)

The costs they incur not only include those directly related to running the company (e.g. buildings, salaries, computers, telephones, buying the fuel, etc) but their accounts also show a considerable surplus which is, at least in part, used for various "fuel poverty initiatives"

To be fair, executive staff salary costs are certainly not excessive at Ebico ... and I would certainly have thought non-executive salaries are lower than the execs.

All we need to do is to keep switching to the cheapest company, the prices will soon come down then.

It's a shame there isn't some sort of brokerage service that will always search for the cheapest supplier and then email you...

    Oooh now then!

Who exactly is this Matthew Stockdale?

He is a self proclaimed multi-millionaire philanthropist, but I've never heard of him and a google search brings up next to nothing on him (other than possibly a twitter, facebook, etc account)

His holding company was only set up 6 months ago too, and that website currently says it had to be compromised due to high server demand about his energy company he wants to set up.
    http://www.tsgpartnership.com/

Can't find any previous version archived anywhere though!

Don't confuse the Stockdale Group with any other company of a similar name based on the other side of the pond.

Furthermore, as a self proclaimed multi-millionaire, it's surprising he's having to rent office space (or even just possibly a mailbox address) at an address advertised as offering serviced offices.

The more I look at this, the more it reflects a 18 year old that went by the name of Liam Young who appeared on Big Brother Celebrity Hijack proclaiming to be a big-time entrepreneur ... who turned out was just a kid who operated a hosting reseller operation from his bedroom, and most of the resells were to either himself or his mum.
