Hi
I am looking to book a
14nt holiday for 2 adults and 1 child who will be two when we travel.
We are hoping to go to Alcudia either Delfin Verde or Iberostar hotel.
I have had a quote from Thomas Cook for £1500 flying from Newcastle on 22nd July to 5th aug 2008.
please help me make our hol cheaper!:j0 -
I hope this doesn't sound rude but does this thread actually work? By that I mean are there really any travel agents or experts reading it and has anyone who posted a 'beat my quote' had a response from anyone? Due to the way this works it with TAs etc supposed to be pm-ing responses, I can't see how we can tell if this thread is really working for some people or not.
I posted a 'beat my quote' three days ago and haven't had any responses at all.... not even to say something along the lines of 'that's a good price that can't be beaten so go for it'. Have I just been unlucky?
Would it be a good idea for posters to indicate if they have been helped with a post to say this? Alternatively, TAs and experts could post a public reply to say the price cannot be beaten.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

I was wondering the same thing. Also, it would be good if old posts could be removed showing only current ones but maybe I just don't know how forums work. Apologies if that's the case!0 -

Actually speaking as a new member - I'm a travel agent who has PM'd people with quotes. I don't bother quoting if I can't beat a price as it is a waste of my time. However I've been a bit put off when I've quoted and don't even get an acknowledgement from the person I've been trying to help. Others have replied asking for more details and sounding interested but then nothing. I don't think it appropriate to chase bookings from this forum - the onus is more on the buyer here to book than the seller to push!
The quotes it is hardest to beat are those where you're just looking for flights - where an agent can really beat prices (and we can!!) is where you have at least 2 elements - i.e. flight plus accommodation (and then transfers or car hire on top sometimes). Gives us more to play with!
So my answer is I don't know if it works or not - but love any opportunity to show that we can beat the online prices and we're not out to rip anyone off, just make a living!!I am a Travel Agent My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are S0466/3973.
