anybody know what i do about appealing - i think i need to contact the school as it is a foundation school but don't want to do things wrong. Also does anybody know how long the whole process takes - really don't need this right now. Any advice greatly received, thanksnow mum of 4!!!0

I bought Ben Rooneys book 'how to win your school appeal' in anticipation of having to go down this route. Having read it on the face of it you can only appeal against the reason they say you have not got a place, ie oversubscription. I think it would be worth getting hold of a copy, local library maybe. This website looks useful too www.ace-ed.org.uk I beleive you should have had paperwork with your letter telling you what you can do next. If not I'd ring your LEA.0

Aww im so sorry!
Im waiting to hear of my ds's place...2 years ago i applied for a school for my dd only to find out she had been offered her 3rd choice  which i really didnt want, so we appealed (twice) with no luck - it was very nerve racking sitting there in front of 7 members from the schools & council asking why your child should get a place in your chosen school... i found it very intimidating!
but if you decide to appeal go online - your local council should have an appeals link.
Good luck to you0 -
i am so useless at standing up in front of people and my OH isn't much better - going to try and get hold of a copy of the book mentioned. really can't believe this - if it were to go on grades and ability my daughter is incredibly bright which makes it even more annoying.now mum of 4!!!0
