Hi Moniker!
Thanks for the receipe for the spinach and ricotta cannelloni. I think I will be cooking a lot more in March, now when I have joined the March food challenge.
The only cooking I have done today is to boil the potatoes so that when I come home from work tomorrow night all I need to do is to fry them with onions and meatballs and eat it with red beetroot.
Off to watch Ski Sunday now.
Enjoy your week.

We had a take away last night. So that will take us wayhayhay over budget.
But hey, a treat........:D
DH did the menu plan for march. He still has lots to learn, but I think he is slowly getting there, with a bit of push in the right direction.
He doesn't seem to count in the left overs and likes to go for fancy meals. But I told him, I refuse to cook anything if it is too complicated, as he can't take the cooking over during the week. He usually just able to turn up in time for tea. And with 2 little ones driving me crazy by that time, he has to stay simple....
But I have to say, he is making the better bread. My bread always rises lovely and then collapses into ???????
Whereas his is lots better. He is mighty proud of that.
He should get lots of :smileyhea :kisses: as he always does all the ioning. And helps out wherever he can in the house, as long it doesn't involve a hoover. :rotfl: :rotfl:I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Oh my goodness me!!!! Where have I gone wrong this month, well I've had a good think before slinking on here to 'fess my sins.
Put me down for £438 please.
I have bought all my meat on offer or from my local farm (which is more expensive) I've cooked a few special meals so a little extra went on those. My other mistake is that I've had a litle extra cash this month and as well as doing my general shop online, I have nipped in for this and that, a few treats here and there, which has been lovely and all paid for with cash (note kept of all spends in good DFW style!).
The shock has been when I've added it up, I've actually only spent £280 on my shopping, but spent way over on bits and bobs - some were needed but many not. I've learnt my lesson and it's been nice this month but back to work next and put this on my learning curve.LBM 17th April 2007:j

spent another £12.15 in Asda today, but that should be it for this month, but I won't post my final total until Friday, but fingers crossed for an underspend this month of £1.35!! Enjoying reading all the recipes. We had roast 1/2 chicken tonight for tea and wondered if someone could post how they make stock from the bones please. I don't know what to do. Thank you:rolleyes:0

I have a confessionThat recipe is exactly as i was given it.... but even though im still losing weight -you won't fine marge in my fridge
only butter
....or lard :rotfl: -so i would do what you are going to do too
Strangely enough, after years of eating low fat this, reduced calorie that -and still ending up at 21st.... since dumping all that and sweeteners etc in favour of good old ingredients and full fat everything (except milk -which i can't drink) im actually losing weigh every week... down to 16st 2.5lbs -so still a long way to go..but its a bloomin doddle:T ...

Well my March started this weekend as I got paid on Friday. As I spent £48 out of a budget of £50 last month I've decided to knock it down a bit and go for £45 this month.
Spent about £3 on Friday on a few bits and pieces of toiletries, and then today spent another £16 between Sainsburys and Home Bargains, so spent nearly half of the budget already  Got quite a lot for my money though...
From Home Bargains:
Wholemeal spaghetti - 15p
Jacobs Essentials crackers (2 packs) - 78p
Crunchy muesli (535g) - 69p
Sharwoods Thai salad dressings x 2 (so cheap and looked interesting) - 58p
Astonish for cleaning stainless steel pans - 85p
Pot scourers - 39p
From Sainsburys:
Sardines (tin) - 35p
Mackerel (tin) - 58p
Brie - 95p
Butter - 94p
Tin tomatoes x 2 - 42p
Milk - 40p
Cheddar - £1.27
Mushrooms 750g (reduced) - £1.19 (got lots of little portions of these cooked and in the freezer now)
Beef mince - 74p
Frying steak - £1.64
Turkey pieces (reduced) - 90p
Charlotte potatoes 1kg - 89p
Onions 1kg - 76p
Bananas (reduced) - 94p
Aubergine - 99p
Cooked up the mince with some onions and lentils this afternoon so have 4 portions of that ready in the freezer as well. Cooked the turkey and had some of it with some mushroom, onions and ricotta cheese stirred into pasta - leftovers of that for lunch tomorrow! Rest of turkey will be used for snacks/ lunches. I also made some pancakes with couple of eggs and milk that needed using up, saw a nice idea somewhere on the forum - making savoury pancakes with leftover meat & veg/ salad wrapped inside for a handy lunch to take to work, so going to give that a go. Finding that I'm not too good at sticking to meal plans but hopefully if I have lots of portions of things ready for when I get in, it'll help me to make the most of what I've bought whilst still having a choice when I get in - otherwise I rebel against my own plans when I'm in a rush or tired!
Just had a quick look in my cupboards and freezer, and I've still got a fair amount of frozen veg, lots of lentils and rice, so hoping that lot will last me a fortnight with just a top-up of milk, cheese and fruit.
Here's to good luck for us all in March :beer:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
