I live in flat, so don't really have access to a garden. But I guess we could all use tips with this countries weather !

I don't have a tumble dryer yet, and using the central heating in the summer is of course a no-no.

I'm looking for creative suggestions on washing lines or anything really...

If this has been covered before please point me in the right direction

Clothes dry really quickly in bathrooms in the summer on a fold away clothes drier, or else place the fold away close to an open window in the summer. Not very creative, so you may get better ideas, but that is what used to work for me.

We just hang things up on plastic coathangers and hang them in the doorways upstairs - looks really untidy but has added bonus of making the bedrooms smell of fresh washing :)

Things don't take that long either

Hang them nearish windows if we do happen to get a little sun the direct warmth will dry a little quicker too.

In winter, my stuff starts off on hangers on a hook thingy for ironing over the door. After a day, they progress to a hooks above my storage heater.

Usually they are dry after that. Sometimes I put stuff in my airing cupboard, more underwear and small stuff. I bought one of those multi hanger things (round with lots of pegs on ) from the pound shop. Also put loads of hooks in the airing cupboard.

I find washing around the place depressing, but what can you do?

Even worse the piles of ironing!!:)

I've noticed that things dry on a windy but sunless day faster than on a still sunny day, and fastest of all, of course, on a windy sunny day.

What about an old fashioned "pulley" - it is a wooden set of slats that can be pulled up to the ceiling on a rope out of the way.

I Found That A Clothes Horse And A Dehumidifier ( You Can Buy Them Really Cheaply These Days) Works A Treat The Dehumidifier Sucks All The Moisture Out The Clothes....you Wouldn't Have To Use It In The Summer Though As Someonesaid Earlier A Well Ventilated Room Would Work
  • We hang clothes on line in utlity room & turn dehumidifier on,cheaper than running tumble drier.

I second the above. I bought one from argos for about £20 you buy then for a lot more. When I lived in a little one bedroom flat. I have now moved but it moved with me.

Mine was installed in the kitchen and I would leave the kitchen window open all night. And if the items where light where normally dry by the morning. I did have a tumble drier but only used that to air and not to dry.

They are great as they hauled up out of the way so no really notices them. I tend to keep washing in what I call wet or damp rooms only. The kitchen and bathroom.

I don't agree with having washing all over the house and over radiators. As will make the house very damp and really does not do the radiators much good. I would put washing on the radiator in the bathroom if I wanted something quickly in the winter. And the radiator rusted while none of the others did.

    Yours
