i think there's a limit of two - mind you, if you've got a lot of family members, they could each take two.

I have a few I bought in Morrison, when cheap, but can't find anything about this in their website, did you see it instore? Mind you I have old fittings for spot lights in the kitchen and the old style energy saving ones fit fine so I'd need to look at the newer style.

nothing about Morrison - from the leaflet :
London's first light bulb amnesty brought to you by the mayor of London, British gas and B&Q. from 11-13 January visit any London B&Q store to trade in a traditional light bult for a free long lasting, energy efficient bulb. This offer is limited to two light bulbs.

sorry, didn't notice before the bit about London only.

So Mr Livingstone has something else on which to spend London Council Tax payers' money.
  • These lights also give you skin cancer, migraine and irritable bowel syndrome if you believe all the c**p in the papers.

Oh dear, perhaps I should be realy worried then,or not as the case may- be.When I was a child and father used to work with a lot of medical supplies I was always stealing the thermometers and putting a lighted match to the bottom as I was fascinated at how the mercury would shoot out of the top of them,I then used to go round and pick up(with my bare hands) the little globules of the stuff and add it to my collection box.I had about an egg cup full of the stuff before dad found out.I remember I used to get it out to play with and was fascinated at the way it moved and melted together. While I would'nt recommend letting any child do this,(I was always inquisitive)Im still ok,and as my mouth is full of fillings- I'm not that worried.Everything has a risk if we worried about everything we would'nt dare breathe.

I put a post on another thread about the risk of your cold water tank drenching you in boiling water. While I was going through the government statistics web site I did actually notice that for the year I was looking at ONE person died of Mercury poisoning - be careful, that could be you next year !

We have used mercury lamps for years, I've got 6ft ones in my garage, they are called strip lights.
These low energy tungsten replacement lamps are only small clever strip lights.

Mercury builds up in the body, there was a fuss a few years ago about dental assistants wearing open toe sandals as the heavy vapour (of dropped filling mixture) could be absorbed through the skin.

    Harry.

PS we have long experience of mercury poisoning as the medical warning used to be in centuries gone by: "You can spend a night with Venus and a life-time with Mercury",

This was a reference to treating syphilis by painting mercury on to the lesions. I wonder which killed people first.
