  • I am saving into my sealed tin for next Christmas as will start my pressie savings in bank at end of month. Will also buy £1 saving stamp at our local co-op supermarket which is just up the road so that will be food and pressies taken care of. I do the Monday charity lottery, just £1 per week and today received an email saying I had won on the big jackkpot, with visions of something like £5000 (not being greedy ) I eagerly logged onto website and found I had won £1. I joined these boards in time to stop my wasteful ways and I actually still have money in my current account this December with all presents bought and nothing paid for with plastic.I am using Tesco clubcard plus account for all my shopping and getting double points which I am saving for air miles or a weekend break at the Hilton. I find I can manage my food shopping well with this account as you can't go in the red and its nice to just pop in for bits and pieces without drawing any cash out first. Hope I can keep this up as sales will be on soon. I will have to take a picture of Martin with me.
  • That gave me a little chuckle at the thought of a load of people at the sales with pictures of Martin in their purses!

Been Thinking though that I might open another account.. with cash back of course .. and earn interest for next year!..
then thought why have savings and still paying off debt?? I'll get my head around this soon... I hope!

Hi Pippo. You might find Martin's advice on the subject useful:

You could always do half-and-half. Maybe put any gift vouchers etc, towards Christmas 2008 and hard cash towards repaying debts.

I have started off my challenge (on the voucher front anyway) and have a £10 leisure voucher to put aside for next year.

I got this from Pigsback and was going to use it this year for my future in-laws but ended up getting them something else :D .

Hi Talkig of keeping a photo of martin in your purse, I dont need it as today he was on Lorraine kellys show telling people not to use there tescos clucard vouchers instore but use them on the net as they are worth four times as much. Today I was informed my daughter needed white tights and afew other bits for her sch play I didnt want to raid my savings so I was naughty and used some of my vouchers instead, and as I was queing up all I could hear in my head was Martin saying dont use them in store.. I have only found this site a month ago and I am already addicted to it..

Jamtart/Chocoholic - any chance of putting that link to the Christmas board challenge in the first post on this thread? I am sure a lot of us would like to visit through the year for encouragement and ideas!!
