OFT and Banks to decide on "fair charge"
Comments

I never trust these large PLC.'s. If they were trust worthy we wouldn't have to claim our money back in the first place. So how easy would it be for a multi billion pound company to give a few dodgey handshakes and a very large back-hander to some comparatively low paid OFT people/person. Damned easy I would say. :shhh:. If someone offered me a few million and a big pension for killing this I'd be tempted.
And if you loose your job at the OFT, you can always work at a bank though eh.
I hope their are whistle-blowers out there who can keep an eye on these things :lipsrseal.
Remember that just because you signed a contract doesn't make it legal. If it said " you must kill a minimum of 4 people a day " and you signed it, your still braking the law..
The problem with your proposition is that the OFT are not represented by thier in house legal team so it would not be a case of bribing one lowly official you would need to bribe the right person at thier solicitors plus the court. It is in fact quite hard to scupper a case once it has started as too many people become involved and thier are far too many copies of documents floating aroundAs I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person0 -
I was so angry I mailed this to the OFT.......
Thank you.
For deciding under a mask of secrecy to finally take the banks to court thus freeing yourselves up from representing the very people you are supposed to look after on a one to one level (on the very day I posted my complaint to the bank)
<O:p</O:p
Thank you for allowing the banks to apply charges to people’s accounts still while freezing peoples ability to complain thus earning the banks further millions.<O:p</O:p
Truly from the bottom of my heart I thank you.
<O:p
A more complete and detailed complaint has been forwarded to my MP pointing out the one sided action done to the consumer in allowing banks free rein to continue charging whilst handcuffing voters by the very agency set up to protect them.

Thank you

WELL DONE. The more people who do this, the more we will be heard
Everyone should send such letters to their MP. THIS MUST BE A VERY SERIOUS WAKE UP CALL
Let us hope that this agency will not end up like the disgusting Child Protection Agency which is a complete farce.
As said earlier, PM Gordon Brown could well lose the votes he so needs and if David Cameron got his act together, he could fight thisThe Winner Takes it All0 -
A SERVICE CHARGE ?
A service charge is an agreeable amount between two parties. The Banks have been applying service charges without our permission and it is doubtful that your T&C show the amounts of up to £38
Therefore the Terms and conditions could be classed as misleading and therefore unlawful.
What the courts must understand is just one service charge (as they put it), attracts further service charges which then accumulates to a debt in favour of the bank and very detrimental to the consumer.
THIS IS NOT IN THE INTERESTS OF THE CONSUMER.
This by the way is the phrase used by the DTI when they apply to a court to have a company closed./quote]
Surely a Service would be to pay the direct debit and then send a letter advising of the service charge plus any amount of interest whilst the account is in default. I remember when British banks used to do this , most European banks still do . If my DD / SO or chq was paid I would have no problem in paying £5 or even £10 as I would see this as a SERVICE charge, for providing a service. As the Greeedy banks now charge a SERVICE charge for NOT supplying a service , It is in fact a PENALTY charge , so thats their case blown out of the water then0 -
if the county courts are NOT GOING to deal with this individually will we all get a refund off the courts  as i paid out £800 that i cannot afford to wait a year for and i dont think that the courts will deal with us any more as the oft are going to deal with it so give us our money back thanks hope martin can help us  :money:

As has been pointed out in numerous posts by me and others the Courts are still proceeding with claims so you should still procced with your case until the courts tell you otherwise. As I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person0 -
I'm going to write a letter to the OFT (I think an email is too casual for this) and a letter to my MP as well. I'm also going to phone my bank HSBC on Monday and enquire as to whether they're going to carry on charging us while the test case is going on, because if they are that would be completely unacceptable and unfair in my opinion.0

The only thing most of us are doing now is speculating not even lawyers at the moment are giving out answers...trust me i have tried with mine...as she said..and a few other posts have said..all claims now are stayed...At least some of us still can claim on the daily rate to judgement, should we get a judgement..0

Lindilou If you check in all my posts I have said the complete opposite. With all due respect to your solicitor she is wrong. All the posters who have checked with the courts have been told matters are still proceeding as normal. I checked the Court Service website no Direction has been made by the Lord Chief Justice suspending claims so they are all still continuing until the COURTS decide, if they do, to suspend them.As I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person0 -

I hear what you are saying, STOKEY125, I was just on the verge of issueing court proceedings when the announcement broke, is this only in relation to cases already in the courts, or like me, people who are about to pay their hard earned cash to the courts, should I go ahead and issue proceedings?0
