French Knitting - money saving?

Hello Everyone, I know this isn't strictly money stuff but I have just got my daughter doing some french knitting like I used to do with a cotton reel and nails many years ago.

Can anyone help with suggestions for things we can make with the knitting?

It has cost me the price of a cheap ball of wool and hopefully will provide hours of amusement for very little money. We thought that we could save even more if we could turn it into something useful.

One suggestion I found was to make necklaces and braclets - adding old beads on to decorate. This can make a very cheap gift for someone!

Hope you can help, many thanks.

Coil it around itself (flat) to make table mats / coasters etc. You will need a few stitches to hold it together.

mum used to get us to sit there whilst she unravelled old jumpers to knit new things out of - sis and me had to sit with our hands apart to hold the wool.

Most cotton reels these days are plastic, not wooden :(

Time to hit those charity shops to seek out any wooden one's that may be lurking :D

Seem to remember mine was made of the inside of a loo roll with 'safety' pins (sewing pins with coloured balls on the top) sellotaped to the top.
