What's the deal?[/title]
To promote the launch of its new app store O2's cut the price of its Joggler gadget to £49.99 until 15 April, when it'll go back up to £100.
The Joggler is a cross between a digital picture frame and a mini computer, and is designed to sit in the kitchen and be a hub of communication between family members.

How to get one.[/title]
To grab this deal, just go to O2's product page and add it to your basket. Delivery is free. You'll need to set up an account if you don't already have one.

What's a Joggler anyway?[/title]
Launched last May, O2's Joggler is apparently designed to replace the fridge door as your family's central point of communication. It looks like a digital picture frame, but packs a touchscreen, in-built WiFi and some handy applications.
Here's a list of the ones that come prepacked. You'll need to get an O2 online account to set it up. If you've an O2 mobile or sign up for its £7.50/month family bolt-on you can get free messaging and other features, but there's no obligation to.
Via the recently launched Joggler app store, you can grab additional apps such as Google calendar, which is more straightforward to use than the bundled calendar, and Youtube for watching videos (albeit in slightly shaky quality).
Full info from the O2 site.

Check out thread on HotUK Deals for a LONG discussion of this one!

You've been warned. It's LONG!0 -
they are also available in store at this price.
think i will get one.0 -
It's a great deal, but really not for novices, there are a number of technical glitches with it that require a lot of tinkering to put right. If you are comfortable with using telnet and linux then it's a great toy to play with - it has amazing specs for the price - but otherwise you might be best giving this one a miss.poppy100

Just because it's half price doesn't make it a bargain. IMO £50 down the drain.
It's a very poor piece of technology, it's not worth a tenna let alone £50.
Plenty of detailed tech reviews give it a kicking too, so it's not just my opinion, here's just one: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/peripherals/253801/o2-joggler0 -
It's not half price, it's 66% off as it was £149 and that's when all the reviews were done, and when it didn't have features such as the appstore and internet radio.Just because it's half price doesn't make it a bargain. IMO £50 down the drain.

Thousands of people will have ordered them since they went on offer so I would expect at least a few big companies to design some apps.
At the moment it has streaming and internet radio which are probably worth £50 but with a few more apps it's definitely worth £50.
Saying that I've not bought one as I've decided I can't afford one at the moment.

The reviews are almost 1 year old so I'm sure it's improved since then.
I'm tempted..Mark Hall0 -

It hasn't improved. I was given one to test when they were just released. Mine is not even plugged in anymore! So glad i didn't pay for it!!
I tried to plug it in yesterday after i heard from other testers that there had been an app release. It turned on and then froze, and then the calender had changed my password, the radio still streams badly and sounds as tinny as before and although the issues with the plug have been resolved, mine still gets very very hot and it won't find my wireless network.0
