My online banking is showing that the BarclayLoan payment has been made which means that I have officially only one more payment to make and that is gone forever, and more importantly frees up 315.00 per month - not to be sniffed at! I have about 500.00 saved for the settlement offer to RMA (going to offer around 1300.00) so over a third of the way to that.

I really, really wish I was debt free now as I have seen the perfect horse that is for sale and that I would buy in a heartbeat. This has truly spurred me on as it is my main motivation for becoming debt free but even if I was debt free there are a few other things I need to achieve before I can have a horse again so without further ado ....

    Goals for 2010....

    1. Pay off 15k from my debts meaning I will personally be debt free and OH will not be far behind me.

    2. Lose another 50lbs - this will increase the range of horses that I can think about buying as they wont necessarily have to be a weight carrier (although I prefer chunkier anyway)

    3. Learn to drive - although I managed fine with my mare without a car, it would make life soooo much easier if I could drive to/from the stables, it would also make OH more amenable to me getting another as it would mean the minimum involvement from him.

    4. Carry on with OU degree - I fully intend to do this anyway but horses aint cheap so I am going to need to keep my career on track at the same time.

I think all of these are achieveable if I keep my goals in mind but should go and crack on with studying if I want to get my course passed so will be back later x x x

  • Good goals to have! Go for it! I'm currently psyching myself up for snowball but am scared of it! Dont quite get why people rave so much about it? Plus until work sorted I can only pay mins anyway so may find it frustrating.

I love my Snowball now ISOM but the first one I did I put in an unrealistic amount to be paying off each month to give me a closer DFD as I thought it would be motivating but it has the opposite effect. I couldnt keep up with the payment amounts I had set myself so the date was getting further and further away so I did a new one with the mimimum payments only on it - it gave me a much longer date but then when I made any overpayments the date came right down - much more motivating then! xx

  • Good goals Pingu and i wish you every success. I can see why you are motivated:)
Agree about the snowball too, min payments make it easier to see- i have done one for my personal and joint debts and it is very motivating to watch the figures come down.
Good luck with the slimming goals you did really well last year and i am sure you can again.x

  • Hi Penguin. You are doing so well.I have done rubbish so like the proverbial bad penny I am back yet again to have another go. At least it hasn't gone up at the rate it was before I found here. Well done on the weight loss too. I am on that road again myself so we'll see how we get on this year.x

Will try the snowball for cc's as loans can take care of themselves for now...just need to suss all the interest rates!
