Not really a recipe - it's made upI've chopped the squash into 8, taken the seeds out (dried to use in HG granola
) and roasted it with some olive oil and nutmeg until soft. I then remove the skin and discard that. I then layer the lasagne sheets with spinach, squash and bechamel sauce. Cover with cheese and bake until cooked through.
Even my carnivourous DS empties his plate for this one :T
Enjoy, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Thanks Penny - it sounds easy enough that even I could do it and scrumptilicious to boot! I love the idea of using the seeds - I only discovered recently you can do this.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Some sort of salsa would be another use.
Zippychick, this was fabulous I will probably do this again,
Couldn't find pine nuts but I KNOW I have some somewhere, anyway used a few walnuts instead.
The wizzy thing complained when I forgot to pit the olives  it gets kinda antsy like that, and of course in keeping with this thread I also used about three pringy-sprouty cloves of garlic.
I made quiet a lot and put some in the fridge for the boys to take to school, but heard them argueing this morning because one of them had polished of BOTH lots for supper.Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

had done so well with using up my stuff and not shopping then popped to asda to get some xmas presentsfor my nephew and two fleece throws to sew to my bedroom curtains as they are so thin( really good tip from whoever the original poster on this board was they look brill) but kind of made a few bad decisions and spent £90 ( although did buy four xmas presents including a bottle of glenfiddich for dad) i thought it necessary to buy a litre of gin and a litre of vodka whilst they were on offer at £10 each as we always buy this at xmas but can't really explain my other buys I am a compulsive hoarder and should not be let loose in a shop so back to square one again
thanks for all these fab ideas
note to self - must try harder0 -
Hi
Back up to the poster who asked about using the evap milk in the same way as condensed, the answer is yes- but its tricky.
Basically you need to boil the tin in a pan of boiling water for ages ( sorry cant really remember- theres a reason I only did this the once!)
Then after the requisite amount of time. You have to fish it out, and manage to open the tin and pour out the contents- quickly because it will set, and not suitalble for the recipe, you also want to be careful it doesnt burn either. Dont get the contents or the tin on your hands or forearms is will KILL.
Cover your surfaces as it can be rather difficult to clean off if left to set
Hope you have better luck with it than I did
Im going for the moroccan chicken & chickpeas and cous cous
and going to make a banana cheesecake with some bananas on their way out.
Managed to find a choc sauce recipe on the internet for with it, we have had a dark bar of choc sat in the cupboard its just too bitter for us, been there months :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Thanks Lynzpower, will bear that in mind next time, didnt have to worry about using it up as hubby opened it and drowned the left over crumble.
Ive just got all excited as its half term i will come in well under budget, as i find the pack lunches for 3 teenage boys is the killer in my budget, this week i will make a big pan of veg soup and they can work their way thru the pile of super noodles for lunch, im looking forward to next week0 -

Since I already spent €7.90 on my challenge, I've got €2.10 for next week - I might buy buttermilk to make soda bread. All this talk of baking is making fancy some! And I might slip a few Twinks in the oven at the same time:p
Buttermilk is quite hard to find around me, hit and miss. So I use milk with lemon juice as an alternative. Not sure how much buttermilk is likely to be locally to you, but if it is more than milk and you have lemon, then hey presto. http://frugalliving.about.com/od/condimentsandspices/r/Buttermilk_Sub.htm
Lynz - what Morroccan chicken recipe are you using? I have the Tagine book, but it doesn't have many chicken recipes.0 -

Tori.K, if your guinea fowl is still on the carcass you could make quite a 'poshy leftover' dinner. Strip most of the meat and use the carcass for some kind of game (i.e. posh chicken, c**k-a-leekie type) soup and then perhaps follow with a simple terrine or pate with homemade crusty bread or homemade crackers/oatcakes?Sometimes, I can't see the wood for the trees - or the couscous for the quinoa... 3 no spends so far for August 2011!0
