Credit Card Chat

A few regulars start conversations in the middle of threads (ok, ok we are all guilty of hijacking!), so we thought it'd be a good idea to create a new thread for general chit-chat amongst users.

Before you all start shouting about the whereabouts of the thread - hold fire, it will still be credit card related! Like Innocent, Oscar & Myself were discussing 'Industry Standards' in the middle of another thread, valid discussion but incorrectly placed!

So, come on - feel free to fill this thread with gossip and credit card related chatter! The more the merrier

Obviously, if you think they are useless and no good at either/or the above then let it be known.

I am thinking of applying so any responses will be greatly appreciated.... :T

Had an account with barclays for years - still with them, but current staff not as good (and some not quite as tasty) as before, but till probably stick there for day to day banking - as for the CC side, useless.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

They discriminated me for being a student. Their darn pre-application checker thing didn't have "student" on it so I will be taking my business elsewhere (:heart2:Sygma :heart2:). :rotfl:

Suppose thats debatable and down to personal choice, a lot of people like HSBC, i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole because of previous experience with an account before barclays.

I've always had a good experience with Halifax but many people say they are !!!!!!. Been considering opening an account with another bank and running money through it each month to build up my internal score for the benefits.

I have 2 accounts and an ISA with Natwest but unfortunately I don't qualify for their credit cards. I've never tried applying because I don't meet their minimum income requirement.

HSBC is one of the best for internal behaviour scoring. If you get a certain score you're almost guaranteed the product. Like me, I failed the CC application and appealed asking them to consider my existing banking with them and use my behaviour score (was in 70's and to get card you had to be at 60) so they reversed decision even though they added a cifas and have yet to remove it! Bizarre eh?

I also have an o/d on both accounts and a cgc on both bank accounts. o/d is £500 + £700 and my internal score is currently 82. I can apply for and get a loan of upto £23k.

You hear people say, if you bank with HSBC to go in and ask for account review and they do one enquiry (not a search) and based on this with your behaviour score they list what they will give you and the amounts! Its awesome if you run your accounts well...... :D

You work for MBNA? I have a question regarding MBNA.. do they accept students or prefer that their customers are working fulltime?
