Hi Kaz,
I've only ever found it in Boots......£2.10 for 750gms. It's brilliant .....
I use it for removing persistant stains.........soak item in your usual detergent, then remove and add borax directly onto the stain while the item is still wet. Leave for about half an hour then wash as you usually would. It nearly always removes the stain.
It's also brilliant at removing build up of of hair products.......just mix some with your shampoo and wash as usual.......hair literally feels squeaky clean.
According to the packaging of the brand I used to buy (no longer available) Borax will not harm anything that will not be damaged by water.
I love this stuff.

Fantastic - thanks both. I'm amazed at how good the other OS cleaners are - so much so I keep using them instead of using up the 'expensive' ones I have. I am trying to spread the word offline to - but I must be over enthusiastic as I keep getting some strange looks!

Thanks for that, I've been looking for this stuff for ages , if you sprinkle it on your windows ledges, it stops spider's coming into your house. They don't like to cross it, so i've been told.:T0

having just bought some borax, I was searching OS to find out the best uses for it when I found this thread
I got mine in a Chinese supermarket, so that's another place worth looking if you've had no luck elsewhere0 -
Any advice on where to get this? I've asked at my local chemists and they say they are not allowed to stock it?Context is all.
