  • So depressing that this sort of thing goes on with airlines. It seems that they're always trying to sneak on extra charges and now this! I can't afford a holiday this year but this makes you wonder if we'd be better off staying at home anyway - I'm thinking of having a "holiday in your own head" as described today on the charity site JustFourQuid - perhaps that charity or any other would be a good destination for all these little bits of money (some of them £2, which is the minimum donation on the JustGiving site) that people will get as their compensation for this price fixing.

Wendy - the link in your thread doesn't work.

I got £6 back for 2 x BA flights to the states, and some people seemed to get back 10 times that figure, i'd love to know how their formulae works?

However, as I was 100% happy with the price I paid at the time, which was excellent, I'm not at all fussed.
  • Thanks Moonchild - link now fixed :)

Would you always be 100% happy with being overcharged?

I got £53 back for 5 flights to the west coast, I was expecting more.

I have not received anything as at yet and travelled numerously with Virgin during that time period.

Did they write to you?

Absolutely not. But I flew BA on these particular set of flights as they were cheaper than all the other options (yes, including Virgin, but also including American Airlines, Continental, Delta, and numerous indirect airlines (I always check out London City options as well if possible).

In fact, they were considerably cheaper than anyone else, and I was ecstatic! So I certainly didn't feel ripped off or overcharged, especially when they upgraded us (albeit only to WT+) on the return.

So, i'm happy to get £6 odd pounds back, but I don't feel I was overcharged.

But - this is off topic, lets not get into that whole thing unless we take it onto another thread where i'd be happy to expand!
  • Received total of £64 back on 4 Virgin flights
    More than I was expecting

How have you all claimed? have you written to the airlines?
  • Hard to remember what I thought I'd get but with 4 return trips to the US, I expected more than £16. I guess it has to do with very long haul and long haul, so between my husband and I we received £32 -- enough for a good dinner out. Hotel du Vin for £29 for 2? I think so!

Received cheque for £60.36 for 3 Virgin return flights to Florida in April 2006. Outward flights had been upgraded to Premium Economy by tour operator for booking fiasco so maybe it depends on things like that as well.
