I didn't highlight the fact the card has risks.
It is uw themselves who highlight the card is risky in the opening sentence of the card ts + cs:By activating your Card you accept these Terms and Conditions and confirm you understand and accept the risks highlighted in clauses 2(b) and 18(d) of this Agreement.
Most folk used to the protection gained from using bank cards would be alarmed by this, though from what we have learned about the uw way of doing things (ie "avoiding getting into any detail"), then presumably your friends and relatives you have signed up for this risky card don't realise every pound they put on the card is at risk (as well as being an interest free loan to the uw - who have charged them for the privilege of loaning it to them!)
So? All prepaid cards carry the same risks - at least UW make a point of highlighting the risks up front in the T & C's - That sounds like good customer focus to me.Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught - Sir Winston Churchill0 -

You speak as a salesman of these uw cards, but you either have no training in the area, or your training from uw is the typical misleading training they seem to specialise in. After all - who would challenge their brother-in-law making such an authoritative statement, so just show me where I sign!
All prepaid cards do not have these risks!
Were what you misleadingly state be true, don't you think your more rabid colleagues would have delighted in making that retort everytime the risks have been pointed out across this board every time the uw card has raises its head over the parapet?
And of course, were the uw to make that untrue statement in print, then the ASA could take action to stop it being repeated.
What have we been told about the dim view the uw take on its reps bringing it into disrepute by making false claims?0 -
I consider myself to be part of "most folk" and I am not alarmed at all by the very low risks associated with the cashback card. I am alarmed by your persistent attempts to knock a company that offers many people a viable way to pay less for their utilities than with any other companies by doing what they have always done in the way of shopping. As has been said numerous times before, it may not be for everybody but Utility Warehouse can be best value for millions if they are prepared to accept certain conditions. I have find those those conditions to be no problem and have shown that I pay less than with suggested best buys promoted by another member. Most folk used to the protection gained from using bank cards would be alarmed by thisThe mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

NigeWick, you work for them, we have seen you get extra commission on your own purchases from them, so as Mandy would have said, you would say that!0

Right so one way or another the prices of the UW and BT package are not far apart.
We can argue until the cows come home which is better.
I have lots of relatives abroad and I I spend a lot of time in the USA and I pay zero for the majority of my 'calls' to and from UK as I use Skype most of the time. Even using a telephone at 1.25p a min it is hardly going to cost a fortune!
Now this is the Gas and Electricity forum and we are all surely agreed that UW cost £xhundred more than the cheapest tariffs.0 -
I presume that you are referring to the fact that as a Distributor, I signed myself up as a customer and earn commission? Makes sense to me, and, that commission was not used when I worked out my savings compared to the best offering from other providers. I also signed my brother up after he checked his requirements and costed competitors for phone, mobile and broadband before putting pen to paper.we have seen you get extra commission on your own purchases from themThe mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Not necessary, if you can bring yourself to admit that Utility Warehouse brings benefits that will not suit some people but will be exactly what others require. We can argue until the cows come home which is better.
I am an Independent Distributor with Utility Warehouse and any opinions expressed here are my own and may not be shared by the company. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Basis of your statement?
Two biggest prepaid cards in the field - Tuxedo and Virgin
Tuxedo13.8 The Financial Services Compensation Scheme is not applicable for this prepaid Card. No other compensation schemes exist to cover losses claimed in connection with this prepaid card. This means that in the unlikely event that Newcastle Building Society becomes insolvent your funds may
become valueless and unusable and as a result you may lose your money.
Virgin2.2 Your Card has been issued on our behalf by Clydesdale Bank PLC in accordance with a licence from MasterCard® International Incorporated or its affiliates. Your rights and obligations relating to the use of this Card are subject to this Agreement between you and us; you have no rights against Clydesdale Bank PLC or MasterCard® International Incorporated or their respective affiliates. If you experience any difficulties in using the Card you should contact Customer Services. The e-money associated with this Card is provided to you by us, and will be in Pounds Sterling. In the unlikely event that we become insolvent, the e-money on your Card may lose its value and become unusable, and accordingly you may lose your e-money. The Card remains the property of Clydesdale Bank PLC.
19.4 The Financial Services Compensation Scheme is not applicable for the Card. No other compensation schemes exist to cover losses claimed in connection with the Card.
They look very similar to me, but then I'm allegedly only a salesman of these uw cards, and either allegedly have no training in the area, or allegedly my training from uw is the allegedly typical misleading training they seem to allegedly specialise in.
