Hi ISOM
There's probably - indeed almost certainly - little "how to knit" clips on YouTube. I'm a visual person myself - so I need to see whats what - then I can picture what I'm going to do.
I read t'other day that there's even a You Tube clip on how to darn socks (all this yur Transition Town reskilling stuff yer knows....) - so I'm sure there will be knitting there somewheres.
Yep - 1,180 clips on "knitting instructions" - I just had a quick checksee -heh!0 -

Get a bag of Tesco value oats, 58p for 1kg. Use that for breakfast, make it with water so you dont use up any milk.
Make a sauce for the pasta, fry an onion, garlic add some mixed herbs and tin of tomatoes/passata.
Make some bread, or buy Tesco wholemeal at 65p. Use that for sandwiches for lunch, use whatever you have for filling, jam, banana, cheese, ham, tuna, egg mayo, salad etc.
Sausage casserole, 1 packet sausages 99p, tin tomatoes 33p, tin baked beans 29p and dash of worcestershire sauce. Add in any other veg you may have like mushrooms, peppers or just use the basic sauce. Serve with mashed potato.
Tuna and pasta bake.
Jacket potato with beans
Spanish omelette

What age is your son and do you need to do lunches for your him as well?
On that budget you are probably going to have to compromise a bit on nutrition but a week of less good quality food won't kill you no matter what some people say.
If you have enough pasta for a couple of meal that would be great. A cheap sauce is fried onion, garlic and a cheapo tin of tomatoes whizzed up with any dried herbs you might have.
Other than that you will need bread for toast and sandwiches and value cheese or cold meat for sandwiches.
A few meals of scrambled eggs, beans on toast and baked spuds are another option.
Soup is cheap and easy to make with value veg and would do lunches and evening meals. Any fruit you could afford would be a bonus.
If you have a Farmfoods near you they have great deals on some foods at the moment so it may be worth a look. Another idea is to check out the reduced to clear section of your supermarket near closing time for some bargains.
It's hard to say what you should do without knowing what your likes and dislikes are but you WILL get through it and you shouldn't have to go hungry.
Good luck.0
