Sorry to be thick but is this for one week (doable and healthiness isn't really a problem) or for the forseeable future (will be a struggle for variety and balance).
This is 57p per day per person.0 -
15 eggs £1
20 sausages £1
bag plain flour 50p
cheap pasta 50p
pasata sauce 50p
block of cheese £1.50
bag of spuds 78p
bag of frozen veg £1
pack of stuffing 13p
this could make
toad in the hole
pancakes for teas
sausage and egg flan
pasta and sauce
baked spuds with cheese
sausage and mash
cheese and potato pie
veg curry and chips
sausage stuffing pasties0 -
I find a small tin of value style baked beans can be padded out with a chopped apple and half an onion (fried to soften first) to eaily serve 2. Add a teapsoon or 2 of cuury powder to taste. Doesn't matter how overripe the apple and onion are as they are being cooked anyway.
I would also check the green grocers towards the end of the day as they often are selling off bits and pieces and it's a good way of picking up veggies which will bulk out main dishes.
As above, porridge is your best option for breakfast. I always have mine with water anyway - prefer it.
When I'm hard up I revert to using lentils instead of meat - takes me back to my student days!Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0 -
oooooh spanish lentil stew..... *sighs dreamily*GC March Wk1 £28.72/£30 Wk2 £28.4/£29

Just spoke to a very happy Weezl who gave birth this afternoon to a very healthy boy, 7ibs sommat (I think 4? weezl wil confirm when she's human again I'm sure...for some reason she feels a bit tired...). Sounds like she had a lovely labor, not too many drugs, at home as she wanted and with a very supportive acetate monkey at her side! Also he came on his expected delivery date so was an obidient little man from the start...there was me convinced he wouldnt get there till monday - left her a message this afternoon asking if she fancies a treat - thought she might like a facial to relax her and induce labor but clearly not needed! Conversation went sommat like this; hello its weezl ....hello! guess what? ooooh are your in labor? no done that bit....:rotfl:
Am grinning from ear to ear and am an honorary auntie at last. Yipeeee!!!!
