Piper-Heidsieck - £16.84 at the Co-op
Offer valid to 04/01/09, useful if you don't have a "The local" near you to use the 40% discount voucher
Linky hereIt's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
We got a bottle of Cava Brut as part of last weekend's M&S dine-in-for-a-tenner (Ha! eat very nice chicken for half a week and build up a wine cellar, more like) - which will do fine for us, as we don't know too much about wine but we know we like it to fizz at NewYear!0

If you don't mind about the label and are not bothered about buying a 'branded' Champagne like Moet (and you shouldn't - the quality of the contents are more important than the brand on the piece of paper stuck to the outside) then the Threshers/ Wine Rack own label non-vintage Champagne (De Brissar) is a bargain at £14.99 (the price using the 40% off voucher). Offer ends 2nd December. At full price it's £24.99.
At the opposite end of the spectrum they also have a good Cava called Vineyard X Cava Brut for £3.59 (with voucher) which is great value. Full price it's £5.99.
Finally, the Waitrose Cava at £5.99 is not currently on offer but it's good quality:

Waitrose also have non vintage Duval Leroy Premier Cru Champagne on offer at £12.99 until 2nd December (reduced from £25.99)

They had this on offer last year too and it got a good review:

Alternatively if you want to try something different it's worth looking out for any offers on English sparkling wine like Ridgeview's Bloomsbury 2005 from Sussex. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/features/british-fizz-its-a-corker-955386.html"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Supermarket champagne (and that includes dross like Moet) is almost invariably rubbish. Not worth it at the discounted price!0

Did anyone see Lorraine Kelly this morning??
They did a feature on shopping for premium foods in supermarkets. Including cava and champagne, they tried all of them and the £3.99 Cava from Sainsburys came out with the nicest taste. Also in Asda the champagne was £12.99 and tasted ok.
But the bargain was a £9.99 bottle of champagne from Aldi which they tasted and it was fine.
Hope this helps! I'm guna go by a bottle from Aldi for sure!

Martin mentions Tesco Premier Cru at £12.98 per bottle. Watch out if they have another 20% off deal as you then get the 20% off the already reduced price. I managed to get mine for £10.38 a bottle and this Tesco Premier Cru is top grade bubbly. You have to buy 6 bottles to get the deal but you can mix it up with other wine to get the six. Even without the 20% off, you will get a further 5% with a 6 bottle (mixed or all champagne) purchase. This brings it down to £12.33."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

Morrisons to a Sparkling Rose called Griffith Park normally 6.99 but on special at moment for 5.99 a bottle. It was in all the papers last year as got voted number 7 in some big wine awards for all the best champagnes and sparkling wines in the world. I think its lovely. I don't normally do cheap wine but this ones lovely, really easy to drink. I love champagne but hate cava and cheap sparkling normally.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0

I can recommend the "Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' Vintage Cava (Spain) £4.99" We bought this for our Anniversary and were really surprised with the quality. We will be buying more for Christmas.:T0
