1.5 million people on housing waiting lists

Once their status
changes from asylum seeker to refugee they are given 28 days to leave their
NASS accommodation and to move from NASS voucher support to the
relevant UK benefit. Once this happens they are classed as homeless and are top of list for all houses to let.(well for houses advertised with priority given to band)
Yes. But then they aren't asylum seekers any more. They are refugees....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
When I eventually buy, I hope there'll be enough cash left over that could potentially buy two studio flats or a 1-bed flat to let out. There's no way I'd do that. My spare cash after I've bought a house that meets my small needs will go in the bank. Why should I snap up a bargain and deprive somebody else the chance to get a small mortgage on it just because I can? It's of no interest to me.0

i disagree
we need a massive population increase to pay for our ageing population0 -
1.5 million on housing waiting lists - but how many of us never even JOINED the list as we knew we'd never get housed?
I am certainly in that group. It'd never occur to me to register on any housing list. As a single person I've always known there was no housing available.
Even in the late 80s the waiting list for a single person was quoted to me as a further 15+ years (after being on the list for 12 years already). Dropped out, never bothered again.0 -

additionally, if one wishes to register for shared ownership, it used to be customary ( and believe it still is) that all applicants had to apply to the council housing list
really never understood why this was. I registered, but obviously never expected to get a council house and if I was offered one I ( like to think) i would refuse it in any case. When you think of the amount of SO out there, and the hundreds & thousands of people whove applied for SO...
Additionally, there are people wgho registered years ago, forgot about it, then got a job bought a house/ happy in private/ moved overseas etc. there is no mechanism ( AFAIK) for the LA to take you off the list as a "dead lead", IF you applied, I was told youhave to put it in writing to remove your name from the list. How many people know/can be bothered to do this? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
