npower capped until 2011
Options
Npower currently have a fixed product until 2011 and according to moneysupermarket.com could save me some money. However, their reviews are less than flattering with a common theme of bad customer service and inaccurate estimated bills.
- What are people's experiences of npower?
- Would you recommend entering a capped product bearing in mind prices are expected to rise again and by up to 30%?
Thanks
Scott

You should also have seen Watchdog.
There have been masses of threads about the advisability of fixed/capped tariffs, including the one presently running on the Scottish Power fixed price offer.
At the end of the day it is simply a gamble if you pay extra now for long term certainty of a fixed rate .
Would I take that gamble? - Yes!0 -

Hi,
Isn't Scottish Powers Fixed Price 2011 a little cheaper than nPower's fixed price?
According to some reviews SP may not be great but I bet they're a lot better than nPower

We've also been with npower for a few years now and had no problems. After the recent price increase on checking with the various comparison sites npower still came out best for us, particularly with the online 1 tarrif, so I rang and changed to that.
Now I'm wondering whether I ought to change that to capped with all the talk about yet another price rise.
Will I be able to do this so soon after changing to online 10 tarriff ?Mary

So like Judy you haven't been ripped off by the overcharging for tier 1 units scam?
It really would help other Npower users to know how you managed to avoid being robbed.
You did manage to avoid being overcharged didn't you?0 -
Well I hope so but to be honest I wouldn't really know where to look to check it out.Just know my bills from one year to the next seemed to stay much the same - I compare them every year to see if there's any noticeable change and there hasn't been.
Maybe I'm missing somethingMary

Well if you have gas then you have been ripped off for a lot of money.

I appreciate this is complicated, but that is exactly what NPower rely upon, namely that it is too complex for Mr and Mrs Average to understand.
With a bit of luck you might get a big refund. with a bit more luck NPower might be bankrupted.0 -
Thanks. I'll check through my bills when OH comes home. It's all a bit mind boggling.Mary

Hi everyone
Am just looking at npower gas bills for last year and our tariff appears to be:
Jan 07 to Apr 07 1711kwh at 4.412 and 1636 at 2.492
Apr 07 to May 07 122 kwh at 4.412 and 129 at 1.915
May to Jul 07 845 kwh at 4.412 and 65 kwh at 1.915
This was on our July 2007 bill and I would mention that we were on the Gas Guardian Scheme.
Now we are on Sol 10 Gas Tariff
Unit rate up to and including 4572 kwh per year 5.602p/5.880p
Unit rate over 4572 kwh per year 1.631p/1.71p
Am I being fleeced or is this a good deal as I am confused to say least?2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494
