Thanks annie-c. I'd thought that the auto setting was one where it turned itself down from high to low when a certain temperature was reached. It is just some vague memory of reading something somewhere ages ago. This is where the manual would be useful!

Thanks for the recipe. I'll try that. I need something that can cook by itself for about 10 hours so that there is very little to do when I get in from work.

I have a cookworks one and I have never used the auto setting:o
I either stick it on low all day (7am - 5pm) or use one of those plug in timers and set it to come on at 11 am on high and when I get in at 5pm its all cooked.
You do need to chop the tatties and carrots smaller than if you were doing them in the oven and I always place them right at the bottom of the slow cooker and then pile everything else on top.

Hi, we got a slow cooker as a wedding present last month and was wondering if anyone knows of any good healthy recipes that we could try out?

I also have a cookworks one.
I wish I had bought one that had a timer though...
But I never thought of using one of the plug in timers.
    Brilliant idea :T :T :T
    Thanks :D

Just remember to turn the power on at the wall. A few times I have gone out after setting it up to come home and find I had forgot.

I'm inspired and going to go and buy one tonight!

When we buy a whole chicken, we usually get a small (no more than 1.7kg) - will a 3.5ltr cookworks one be big enough to fit this? I don't want to waste money buying a bigger one than I need.

    Thanks
