slow cooker quick questions thread

Hi All :hello:
I'm newish to using my slow cooker & have tried a few recipies, most of which have tasted OK if looked slightly unappealing! But everything seems to burn on the bottom, even though I always make sure the meat is well covered. Usually the thickness of the sauce is fine, but even when I've miscalculated the fluid & the sauce is really sloppy, the bottom bits are burnt. It usually mixes in quite well & gives the food some colour :rotfl: but is there anything I can do to stop it fom happening?
My slow cooker is old, a Tower Compact that has no temp/time settings (it is either on or off), holds 1.5L & is 50watts.
Any ideas anyone?& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Does anyone have a fail safe slow cooker beef curry recipe ?
Sorry if its on already but have not had time to look through all posts, and if someone remembers seeing one?
Thank you.
PS Have now done a thread search and I cannot see one, so if anyone would be kind enough to post one I'd be very grateful.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Hi my sc had just arrived and would like to make the kids sausage, beans & mash for tea. Can I bung the sausages in the sc with the beans? Can sausages be done on their own or do u have to add sauce/gravy to anything you cook?
TIA kal25
by the way I will have plenty of questions later:rolleyes: :A:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11:smileyhea

oK I slightly bnrowned the sausages off, shoved them in microwave for a few mins to try and get any extra fat out, then put them in the sc with tin of beans put it on high until 4pm came out lovely. Did mash potatoes and the kids are now wolfing it down.:D . Obviously next time I will plan a bit further ahead but obviously my sc didn't turn up until 1-1.30pm. Looks like I will have lots of reading to do later,If I want to read through the reciepes.;):smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11
