FinancialBliss: My mortgage free journey…

It’s the witching hour again, so a quick update covering a few points…
Shower. Forgot to mention that the re-grouting and sealing of the shower appears to have worked – well at least for now. Total spend, 9.98 on sealant – already had the grout. Much cheaper than a new en-suite.
Lloyds TSB. @ hostertlady – popped into Lloyds TSB as I said I would, and the assistant I spoke to said what I was hoping for. The 2 year accounts we’ve got @ 8% are indeed a fixed rate for 2 years. Sheepishly admitted that they’ve halved the rate to 4.00%, but then slipped into a sales drive, to which I made excuses I needed to be back at work shortly…
My account expires on 3rd October, so I’ve made a note to get organised around 1st September with researching replacement account(s).
Pay. Apparently, we’ve since been offered 2.45% (over and above the previous 2.20%) and this is a final offer. Suspect industrial action will be needed to achieve anything more. Could drag on again.
Mrs Bliss. I started this diary on 10th October 2007. Tomorrow being 10th April, that’s 6 months on. May try to break the ice with the diary tomorrow, but I guess I missed a trick and perhaps could have said something at the end of “It pays to watch” this evening.
Mrs Bliss actually said, and I quote “Wonder what Martin would make of our finances?”. After a quiet smile to myself, I just couldn’t bring myself to say anything... :rotfl:
I’ll keep you all posted !

Oh lordy! :rotfl:
I'm sure it'll be fine.
I'm a newbie to the forum but wanted to post to say that after reading for a while prior to joining, your diary has inspired me to do something about reducing our mortgage (along with joining MSE)! So thank you. And hello.:j
I would love to be MFi3 (coinciding with the big 40), but unless something truly miraculous happens, it's near impossible. So the already ambitious plan is to get the mortgage down to £50k by then, from £207! Obviously that entails many MS aspects and if I get round to it I might start my own diary of sorts.
But good luck with your plans and thanks for the diary.0 -

Hi,
Just a quick post...
Was about to do the deed last night, but the ants turned up yesterday. Been setting them up in their new "home" and therefore got distracted.
See Tall Girl has similar issues on her thread.

Brilliant :T0 -
Well...
Told Mrs Bliss about this little diary last night
Seemed slightly annoyed at the length of time I've took to break the news, plus also voiced potential concerns about topics put on here.
Suspect we'll have further chats about it in due course... At least it was all done in a calm and rational manner.
Oh - she thinks my user name is pants!
Haven't specifically pointed her to this location, but I suspect this question will come.

You have done the right thing FB:T well done. Hello Mrs Bliss:hello: if you are reading. Your Hubby has a very positive, helpful and interesting thread and seems determined to make your future secure, which is more than I can say for my hubby, NOT A CLUE:rolleyes: :rotfl:
Onwards and upwards Eh? :TBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Well done you :T
I also agree with LouiseJ's comments about your thread.
PS surely the fact that your name has meant that your children can be referred to as Blissling muber 1 and 2 will sway her - very sweet
If she does read your diary she will also see that you have always intended to tell her etc and have just been trying to find the right time (although you did miss the 'Martin TV programme moment') :rolleyes:MFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18

Yep I'm with the others, she'll be fine once she's had a butchers on here.
It's (I guess) just a little strange to have your other half admit to having kept a diary for months. The longer it goes on the more it seems to be people think things have been "hidden".
Once she's been here she'll see there's not much been "hidden" and I reckon she'll be ok.
On the other hand she is a woman and so anything could happen0
