Hi ali, Give me a clue here on the Mrs Bliss front please? Penny is not dropping here right now, but that's perhaps as it's after 11pm.

    Thanks,
    FB.

I think the question refers to whether you have told Mrs Bliss about your online diary yet?
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Hi all,

Had a secure message reply from Nationwide today regarding my earlier mortgage query. Quote:

    "Thank you for your enquiry.

The £898.03 payment to your mortgage account was received in to the account on the 04/04/2008. Payments to Nationwide mortgage accounts normally arrive in 2 working days. Transfers confirmed after 6pm or on a Sunday will take an extra working day and the transactions are backdated for interest purposes to the date the money left the FlexAccount in this case the 01/04/2008.

The online mortgage statement shows the total amount received to the account each calendar month and does not list transactions individually."

So, reading into the above, despite me not seeing the credit to the mortgage account until 4th April, they apply the interest calculations as it if was credited on 1st April. Nice, I guess.

Good to know seeing as I'm Nationwide too. Thanks.
Can be like paint drying at times, watching your mortgage balance go down!!!

i am interested in this bit, it sounds like what i have, although i went into the bank yesterday with regards to 'upping' my payments and he said to me the rate is now under 3%, but reading my t&c i think he is wrong on that bit, if it does stop in October this year then i will close it and find a better account as i am sure mrs bliss will?

    Hi hostertlady,

Lloyds TSB monthly savers. OK. Here's what I currently know about them. Originally they were a 2 year product @ 8% - so that's 8% for mrs bliss and 6.40% after tax for me. Seemed like a good deal a the time as many of the other monthly savers were only 1 year products.

However, I think it was last year, they dropped the product to a 1 year term and on 3rd March 2008, slashed the rate from 8% to 4.55 AER or 4% gross, or 3.2% net:

Now that you've asked - I'm very tempted to pop into the branch near me tomorrow to check that I'm still getting 8% (less tax in my case) and not that paltry 4.55% rate. I'm guessing I still am, as it was a 2 year fixed deal, but there's no harm in asking them.

Both our accounts expire, either at the very end of September or 1st / 2nd October - need to find out an exact date nearer the time.

I doubt I'll re-invest with Lloyds-TSB. I've made some notes regarding the Nationwide regular saver. Not because I'm particularly loyal to Nationwide, but as their monthly saver doesn't expire. I can feed from Nationwide e-savings to monthly saver. More research needed nearer the time!

Hi FB, just catching up with your thread - totally spooked as your boy and mine were born on the same day.

Hat off to you on the MF quest. We have similar size mortgages but I have a few more mouths to feed so am aiming for a MF Date of 8.8.18.

keep up the good work/excellent diary.

    Hi mumto5.
Very nice to see new people popping up.:hello:

Five. Phew. Can't comprehend that. We really struggle with just 2. #1 was an absolute dream while he was on his own. #2 is a bit of a nightmare. Doesn't sleep particularly well, and she is coming up to 2! She's also a delight on her own, but the two together just wear you down.

#1 was due on 07/04/04, but due to complications which I won't detail here in case I get shot off mrs bliss, came early on 04/04(20)04.

Mrs bliss fell pregnant again in 2005 and we joked that we should try for 666, ie 06/06/2006 - but we missed that, but by only 24 days!

I quite like your date of 8/8/(20)18. Don't suppose you've thought of aiming for 8/8/(20)16, ie two 8's are 16?. Nope. OK. I'll get my coat!

All the best in your quest...

    Hi FB

I work at an university and we have a 3 yr cost of living pay deal at the moment which started in 2006. It is as follows...
    Aug 06 - the greater of 3% or £515
    Feb 06 - 1%
    Aug 07 - 3%
    May 08 - the greater of 3% or £420
Oct 08 - the greater of 2.5% or RPI

Its a bit random but it makes a change from the 3% we got every year before that!

We also get an increment increase each year in Aug (unless you are at the top of your grade). It means this year is quite pleasant for me... sorry :o

Me too, and it is rather good. But, I've got no idea what will happen next year, so I'm not counting any chickens quite yet!

The extra money will, of course, go into the Mortgage!

Let me elaborated... the repayment part of my mortgage is similar to yours and it's this part I am chipping away at.

When Dadto5 and I discovered no 5 was on her way we had to move house costing us a fortune. The first mortgage from our old house was sliced up into an interest only portion which is covered by an endowment which pays up in July 2018. The endowment is with Prudential which should see us ok but we have converted £20K to repayment just in case there is a shortfall. This is why my MFD is 8.8.18.

No 4 was due on 20.3.04 - he was 15 days late and thought I was going to be pregnant forever. I vowed never again....
