ISA Move to YBS from A&L

Options
Applied for a YBS ISA just prior to Christmas, filled in all the forms to transfer from A&L.

Today got a letter from A&L saying your ISA can only be done online or by telephone, with a copy of the YBS transfer form.

Has anybody transfered an A&L ISA?

Can't get through on the 0870 number:rolleyes:

    Use 0800 068 8638
    Option 2 (current accounts)
    Option 2 (savings)
    Option 2 (direct ISA)
    Enter 12 digit customer ID
    Enter your security details
How can I transfer my Direct ISA funds to an ISA with another provider?

If you want to transfer your Direct ISA funds to another ISA provider, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Call 08703 333 444 (calls are charged at the national rate)
Step 2: Press 2 for Savings
    Step 3: Select Direct ISA
Step 4: Enter your 12 digit Customer ID and 5 digit customer PIN
Step 5: Press 9 to speak to an advisor (advisors are available between 9am and 8pm Monday to Friday and between 9am and 1pm on Saturday)

The advisor can then take the details of your new provider and the amount you wish to transfer. The transfer will be completed within a maximum of 30 days or within a timescale specified by you, as long as this is not less than 14 days.
Please let us know how it went, particularly timescales and whether YBS backdated the credit to the day after A&L closed your account and produced the cheque (I'll be following you at the end of April).

what's the ISA rate with YBS?

Just transferred mine from A&L and had to do it by phone too. Has gone through with no problem. Apparently YBS backdate interest to day after A&L account closes;).

Yorkshire Boy, I'm puzzled by this ( and i accept that I'm a bit slow but I'm still learning)...should I wait til the end of April as well, as I am tempted to move my ISA now.

I've changed my mind since I posted yesterday (see today's thread on the savings board). :o

I'm not sure A&L will do anything with the underlying rate following any BOE rate move in February (as they didn't in Nov/Dec) - and especially since there'd only be a month or so from the date of any change made and the end of the bonus period.

So, I've decided to move to YBS next month - just as soon as I've filled up this years money - (for 0.05% less - plus any increase they give in March following a BOE rate move in Feb). That way, hopefully I can avoid any hold-ups when everyone else is chopping and changing in April.

I could of course be completely wrong!

sorry for being so thick, folks. I have just looked it all up and realise that A&L are paying 0.7% bonus which runs out on 31st April.

    Sashacat, just one more thing...

When the YBS Internet Saver was inundated with applications last year, they pulled it from their website to enable them to catch up with the backlog (indeed, I only noticed online yesterday that it was now open again to new applicants).

It is quite feasible therefore, that they could do the same again with their e-ISA so it might pay to get in quick.

Again, I could be wrong though!

No you don't. In an earlier thread you said your ISA's were closed issue ones currently paying 5%.

mine says the bonus is until 31st April, but I'm not sure as they could extend it.
