No problem! Posting the pics helps my brain to knock one present off the list and think about starting the next one!
You are absolutely right about plain envelopes. I occasionally use nice stickers on the outside and also put a piece of patterned paper on the inside flap of the envelope so it looks pretty when opened (try and match it up to what I've used on the card). I put the paper on the inside of the envelope flap and line it up so it doesn't cover the glue. Does that make sense? To be honest I usually send plain envelopes cos it's easier but do jazz them up if I think about it, have the materials and also the time
Good luck with the masters
Thanks rainmac,
I like your envelope idea - I'll give it a try!
I mentioned some of the ideas I got off this thread to OH last night and he was like "Christmas!?!? It's summer!" :rotfl: However, I'm one of those people that always ends up running around on Christmas Eve trying to buy last minute presents. This year I won't have the time or the money - so I'm determined to be super organised!
I shall be back in the next few weeks to (hopefully!) post some pics."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -

This is so my OH.
I ment christmas now and he squirms and his idea of christmas shopping is December 22nd - 24th trying to buy find presents for people in the mad rush of last minute shoppers. He left it to this point last year as well - luckily i was prepared and had 90% of people done so it was jsut his mum, brother in law and bits and pieces for the two boys that we had to get so in turn it took us about 15 minutes in swansea and then abotu 2 hours in toys r us! (think thats more to do with me and bf being big kids and playing with all the toys though!)
Welcome to the board though - im determined to be ready this christmas so i can enjoy december with my little boy - took him to the father christmas parade last year nd he loved it so think we will definately be doign that again with a flask of hot choccie and some homemade shortbread bikkiesTime to find me again0 -
Funny joke I once heard.
They should have a special shopping day just for men to do their christmas shopping.
Reply.... They do it's called Christmas Eve!!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
Okay, I went to the opticians yesterday, so now I have two working eyes - hurrah! Been having a bad week craft wise. I don't know if its just me or if everyone gets them. Everything I do seems to look rubbish, I'm not happy with the decorated filofax for my Mum, and I can't decide how to decorate my box for my cards. I might just stick to making a few cards until my inspiration returns.0

That is soooo cute, was it hard to do? How would I go about learning how to do it?
Thanks kbl, once you know the basics its not too hard. I use either photoshop or paintshop pro, you can find a 30day free trial if you google them, you can find tutorials the same way as well for them. They are like more detailed versions of paint(brush). Tutirials are also put on the website (deviantart.com) where I've put the link to the photo, just take a look round.
I rub out all the background from the 2 photos of the children, then put them over a nice back ground picture, add a bit of grey, slightly transparent for shadow & background, & then add dots for snow. Thats basically it. HTHYou cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
Mary43 - I need ideas myself. I was going to use some pretty 12x12 scrapbook papers but they won't fit - aaahhhh! So I've got to figure a way round it, as I said everything seems to be going wrong at the minute. I might attempt it later!0

Another idea for an adult christmas present that go down a storm - lap quilts
They are dead easy to do, look really good and need only have basic sewing skills (which is just as well 'cos mine are very basic :rotfl: ).
I made two last year from a pair of new lined 100% cotton curtains I found for £3 at a car boot sale.
I cut the heading tape off, separated the lining from the curtain, and then trimmed both so they matched the width of a sheet of 4oz wadding, (remembering to add a few inches for the seam allowance before trimming. V important that bit!!) I bought the wadding on ebay, a metre wide and four metres long for £10 including postage.
Then I turned the fabric to make the seams, sandwiched the fabric (wrong side up), wadding and lining (wrong side down) together and sewed all the way round, leaving a small gap at one end to turn the quilt the right way out. Then I stitched that shut.
All told it cost me £13 for two lap quilts. My mother had one and she sits with it over her feet and legs in front of the TV in the winter, as does my MIL who had the other and she also takes it to bed with her and puts it over her feet underneath the duvet. Apparently she hates bed socks and it's the only thing that will keep her feet warm.
I could have made them bigger by using the entire size of the curtain (I think it was a 56" drop and about 66" wide) but it would have meant buying another 2-3 metres of wadding to make up the width difference and I was on a strict budget."carpe that diem"0 -
Steel - what a great idea!0

Mary & Melissa, how about using the Decopatch idea to cover your boxes? I was having a think and wondered if cheapie wrapping paper would work for this as it's thin so all you'd need is the wrapping paper torn into little pieces and glue that dries clear. As the paper gets 'wet' from the glue you can 'bend it' round corners and stuff so it should look neat. What do you think?
I haven't tried it so don't know if it works but would like to give it a go.
So glad your eyes are all in focus again Melissa! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
