Hello.
Can anyone recommend me a HDD recorder with twin freeview tuner please?
I don't need it to have a dvd drive.
(I tried the Wharfdale 160 gig + dvd and the freeview picture was really poor compared to my Panasonic dvd recorder.).
Thanks

I have had a Humax 9200T myself for the past two years and I couldn't do without it now, this 160gb TopUp TV one according to some has very similar features but is a lot cheaper than the Humax.

I like the look of those! I haven't seen one with a top-up card slot before, and they would also appear to have an RF modulator, not just the loop-through which most boxes have. If so, that makes it easier to pipe through to other TVs in the house.
EDIT: I've just looked up the way Top-up TV works these days - I hadn't realised that there had been big changes. All looks a bit naff really, the "extras" aren't complete channels, just selected programs from them - and not shown live.0 -
The Humax's always get excellent reviews, so I'll second everyone else's recommendations, and point you towards more advice at: https://www.avforums.com0

I don't know what the Humax goes for these days but take a look at the Topfield too if you've not already made your mind up. I've had one for some years and it's a joy to own. It was expensive at the time but a new model (the 5810) means that the 'original' 5800 can be picked up for a very good price. I wouldn't recommend the new 5810 (yet) since there are some firmware issues, but the 5800 is reliable, feature-rich has an established, supportive user base. There are lots of customisations/improvements that can be made to the box if that's your thing (see www.toppy.org.uk) Maybe the Humax has this too, but I thnk Topfield has been long-regarded as 'the daddy' of PVRs and shouldn't be discounted (unless we're talking price!).0

Humax story is v. similar to the Topfield one. I got a reburb Humax 9200T like this: http://humaxdirect.co.uk/product.asp?ProdRef=20032 for £130, came with full 1 yr warranty and works a treat.0

Many discussions on the AV forums about upgrading the Humax to larger HDs too...0
