IMHO, £130 (+P&P) Humax refurb (see link further up) much better than £117.5 Goodmans - and don't have to be a Makro member.0

Goodmans vs Humax - no comparison, like Lada vs BMW. Humax all the way.0

Humax disk is smaller. Will it fill up? Depends on what kind of viewer you are, some people just love collecting things & hate getting rid of them, eg your old recordings! If you are one of these, go for large disk. I still have a few bits & bobs from last Xmas but prune regularly (esp old series recordings) and am abt 80% full.0

Auto padding setting on Humax cannot be used if you wish to record a whole series automatically. Don't ask me why (there is a whole forum devoted to Humax quirks). I turned padding off and find I don't miss. An unexpected encore at the end of Jools Holland's 'Later' did og missing though.
And the Hummy also has a usb link for getting your recordings onto a laptop - though I cannot be bothered and have no idea how the result could be burned to DVD/viewed.0 -

Thanks everyone.
I went for the Humax one and am very please with it. It has loads of features including Picture and Picture, series link & you can record your favourite DAB radio shows too (and loads more features I have yet to get my head around!).
Anyone know if you can just plug in a bog standard external hdd into it to play MP4 and videos on it?0
