Gentle PLEA to use Tesco codes sensibly

Reading various threads here people seem to be using/abusing Tesco discount codes for very small things like birthday cakes and CD's or games.

Guys - a gentle plea - use the codes wisely or we will all suffer. Stock up on loo rolls and washing powder or any household goods that are bulky that you may need or we will all lose out. I’m sure Tesco’s know what is going on with codes and while we are taking customers away from competitors by placing orders I'm sure they will turn a blind eye. Using the delivery service to get one or two small items delivered is not using the service sensibly and they will smell a rat and code will be taken away as has been done before.

Ordering one or two things or placing small orders under £25.00 is not sensible and we will all lose out.. If Tesco start linking codes to emails sent and/or post codes where mail drops have been done before validating the codes we will all lose out. At the moment, it is probably not worth their while cost wise to check every offer although as has been posted before - they have checked some small orders..... But if lots start asking for deliveries under £25.00 or for very small items I think the facility will be withdrawn....

Abuse it and lose it. Use with care and all will benefit.

I think we need to make sure people go back to stating where they got the code from. If its in an e-mail because you had a late delivery then chances are they don't want everyone using it, and the mods should probably remove them. However, if its one of the spend £75 get 1000 points, then generally those seem OK to use.

I personally would be too embarrassed to ask for a delivery for a birthday cake and candles and I'm sure Tesco would monitor people doing that sort of thing!

I always think its a bonus everytime I get a code accepted!

  • Fully agree with knowing the source of the code. People who get codes for late deliveries should think twice about posting them here. I know it's all done with good intent but we have to think of the bigger effect it will have.

And yes it is always a joy to have a code accepted but then I order a decent amount with each delivery and only use points codes not money.

EDIT: General comment - if the code is not accepted please don't winge to them and draw attention to the fact you are using a code they did not intend you to have.

Yes, I tend to use the points codes, so always spend £50 plus. I've never had a problem with a code not being accepted - that's probably why!

I agree that the intentions are great, but people seem to be having lots of problems with codes not being accepted and then having to ask on here where they were from.

Just one note on this topic, I notice the forum does not supply Sainsbury's codes at their request. It would be niave to think Tescos are not aware of this forum and could very easily ask Martin to put a ban on using the codes. So I'm with the others here, please use the codes (and others) sensibly or we'll all miss out.

I really don't think this is a problem...if Tesco put a stop to us using codes their online sales would plummet.

They do not run the best online grocery service and for a lot of people it is only the codes that keep them coming back.
  • I can inform you that Tesco monitor this site 24/7, as I have been in marketing(indirectly linked to Tesco) for the past twenty years and they are well aware of codes and anything else posted on this site to do with them or their competitors!

Imagine if they put the block on codes! I can hear the bean-counters crying already because of lost trade and worse still trade to the opposite teams!!

You're not dealing with some hick county store here, these guys take no prisoners when it comes to profit!!

    Onwards and upwards chaps!

  • If Tesco ARE monitoring then can we please have a code to use for electrical goods? Treadmills in particular.

    thank you
  • I agree with what your saying although I hold my hands up ,i did use that particular £10 Tesco code . I shop with them regular and i used it against a big shop i wanted to do. But yes i agree some people abused it and even wanted to include the delivery fee within that £10, to me that was cheeky

Im very greatful for all codes i find on here and i wouldnt want to lose that. Thanks for highlighting it

There's thousands of people who lurk these forums every day and never sign up, there's bound to be some of them who use them too. Any codes is unfortunately going to be abused on a public forum.

For the record I have never once shopped on-line for food or for that matter I even shop at Tesco's on-line, I find there expensive for my liking for main shop.

I do my food shopping at Morrions and where my wife works at Sainsbury's. I buy the odd thing at tescos because I cant buy else where and they sell better stock of vegatarian products.
