I'd like to do this for my mum.....any strings attached anyone please?

Mum has an online account which I see to for her already.
    Her last bill was £42.
£7 were calls, so she is making chargeable calls each month.
She has the Evening and Weekend package for free calls after 6pm and weekends to landlines.

Should I do this for mum? Does she qualify?
    Thanks

Does this include broadband? I am with Virgin and have medium broadband, medium T.V. and free weekend calls for £20 pm. I also have Virgin mobile with 300 minutes and 300 texts, which I never go over. Combined with regular use of 'Say no to 0870" , my monthly bill for the four utilities is £30, unless I buy a movie. I don't think this deal will apply to new customers, I have been with them for some time, but it may be worth seeing what is on offer at the moment.

It will be worth looking while looking at this..

and the utilities forum to get some ideas.

    • Skype £2.24 a month via the net. If you're willing to call via the internet then Skype's Unlimited Country* package offers unlimited any time landline calls within the UK for just £2.24/month. Here, you need a headset or internet phone connected to your computer, and then you can call other people on normal landlines. See the internet calls guide for a detailed explanation.
    • BT's £4.95 a month via a normal phone. If you prefer a normal phone, until the end of September, BT is offering a discount on its Anytime call plan. Sign up for 12 months, and it'll cost you £4.95 instead of the usual £5.95.
Alternatively, opt for Euphony's euTalkUltra for free calls to landlines at all times. It's a pound a month for the first three months, then £5.99 after, making it an average of £5.16 over the 18 months. The package includes free calls to 36 countries at all times, but even if you don't need these it's still the cheapest.

Thanks but she won't be using a computer online.
I just need to know about the OP's information.
Are there any catches I need to know about.

Their are no catches, BT Privacy at home does exactly what it says on the tin.

Your mother does not have to make chargeable calls to qualify. The inclusive evening and weekend calls she makes will qualify her as long as she makes 2 inclusive calls a month.

If she is interested in cutting the cost of her chargeable calls she could use www.18185.co.uk for peak 01/02/03 0845/0870 calls and all mobile calls.

Virgin Media are probaly the most expensive phone company in the UK, and they dont offer free caller display which is what this thread is about. In fact on some exchanges they cant even offer it at all.

I appreciate that Virgin is expensive if you go over the allocated minutes, but I don't do this so it works well for me.

Beware if you normally use another provider for your calls but dial 1280 to go via BT for a couple of calls per month, in many cases, this doesn't work anymore, so do double-check whether calls are actually appearing on the BT bill.

There's a thread about it here:
