Flylady for single people?

Does Flylady work for single people or just people with families? I read the Flying lessons last night and have a nice shiny sink. This morning, I've got up, dressed, etc. and made the bed but I really don't see the point of wearing make up if I'm the only one seeing me. Nor am I prepared to buy a pair of lace up shoes for inside the house.
Is anyone single doing Flylady? I'm raring to go but am feeling a bit lost and don't know what to do next. Should I read the book first? Or is the website enough? I'm confused.
Also, everyone seems very advanced in the Flylady challenge thread.

Just like to say I echo your sentiments there.
I found myself getting a bit lost and couldnt see very much to help you get started, all seems quite advanced, and based on a lot of pre existing systems.

The flylady.net website says you do one new habit a month, every day for the whole month until it's a habit. Then the next month you carry on with that and introduce a new habit. Baby steps.
The fling boogies are a good idea to run round picking up things to throw, things for charity
I think the whole idea of makeup is so that you are always ready to rush out in an emergency etc or ready to pop out to the shops if you need to.
Plus if you stay in your PJ's all day then you get less done. If you get dressed and ready then you are more inclined to get jobs done rather than slobbing about all day (personally I find this anyway - tho I don't wear shoes indoors at all).
I have the book but most of it is already on the website and in the emails (if you sign up then you can choose to have one huge email every day (digest) instead of loads and loads of smaller ones through the day).
I've not done the flylady challenges on here tho.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Totally agree. I was inspired because my (single) life seemed to be in a state though so I just adapted the routines to the other responsibilities I have.
I would imagine the nice thing about FLYing with a family is that the site would tell you everything/in what order/ etc.0 -
I often find because Im single, I put things off an awful lot because it doesnt affect anyone else but me, so no real harm being done.
Like for example, washing up plates from having a sandwich.....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I think I'm going to start "flying" in the New Yeas as I have a week off before I start my new job on 2nd January which will give me enough time to work through my mountain of paperworkNever let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

I've not done the flylady challenges on here tho.I think getting dressed is always a good idea, so no problem with that one.
But - I've signed upto the emails and the first arrived today and it was as bad (meant in a nice way!) as the Flylady challenge on here!!! A HUMUNGOUS list of things to do. All I've got is a shiny sink!!!
I need hand holding - quick before I go off the whole idea.TL0 -
I'm single too... I did try flylady for a while - but I'm afraid I never managed to get beyond shining my sink
I also found that I [STRIKE]couldn't be bothered[/STRIKE] had no particular need to wear shoes inside the house and couldn't see myself having any 'emergencies' that would require me to fly out the front door with about 1 seconds notice.. but then, I don't have children or partners...CAFCGirl wrote:I often find because Im single, I put things off an awful lot because it doesnt affect anyone else but me, so no real harm being done.

Definitely - I'm just the same... guess that's why my house isn't that tidy!
(but then, it doesn't matter too much as noone else can see it!)0 -
i too can find it all a bit overwhelming.
ive found the secret to my success is to read through the various sections of the website, and then borrow the ideas and philosophies you *know* will work for you. then you cherry pick from the remaining, less suitable ideas, tailoring them to your requirements.
at this stage, im not so worried about a tidy house- flylady for me currently is about learning to declutter more effectively and ruthlessly than ever before.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
