Hi all
Does anyone else use coconut oil?
I originally bought some to use in cooking after reading of health benefits elsewhere on the forum. It's very nice, too. Especially in curries and many other dishes where frying onions and/or meat at the start is needed. Tastes great on it's own as well.
I've been using it for a month and as a bonus I have found it to be the best night cream I have ever used and the best body moisturiser, too.
It's great as a deep moisture treatment for hair as well! Very little is needed so it is very economical. :T
So, 1 pot does all! I did a little research and found £5.99 for 250g delivered was the cheapest food grade for a trial amount at the time of my search.

It's Organic and Virgin if that's important to you.
I like it so much I have bought the next size up £8.99 del for 460g (I still have 1/3 pot left but don't want to run out over xmas)
I'm telling all because it's great to find something that works :j

It doesn't suit everyone, but neat vegetable oils are a great way to moisturise and cleanse the skin. I don't know of any particular reason why coconut oil should be any better than any other oil, and I tend to suggest olive oil because of its high anti-oxidant content. The amount you need is so small it hardly seems worth worrying about the cost, but I guess that coconut oil is one of the cheaper ones.Student of the science of beauty0

I've found coconut oil better than olive oil for moisturising as it is nowhere near as greasy and it has a better effect on wrinkles. Coconut oil smells better too
After a week of using coconut oil as a night cream I found that my finer lines simply were not there the morning after. Deeper ones really were less noticeable. You do have to use it everyday to maintain this effect but that's true of any moisturiser. Best was when I had compliments from both men and women on a recent night out. :j
Coconut oil, generally, is nowhere near as cheap as olive oil or any other cooking oils. Compared to Nivea / Garnier / Roc though it's pennies
The moneysaving comes through a one pot solution whereby you're not buying many products which may not work, but one which is surprisingly effective :T0 -
I use coconut oil. I've used both the cheap coconut oil obtainable from Asian corner shops that specialise in Asian food, pulses/curry spices/chutneys etc. You can find 500ml pots for around £1.50~£2.00 ish. If you aren't familar with Coconut oil it is solid at room temperature so you need to look for a syrup/large honey type pot but with solid while lardy looking stuff inside. This doesn't have a strong Coconutty flavor and is ideal for cooking with when you don't want the end product tasting strongly of coconut.
The virgin coconut oil I've tried has been much more strongly flavoured. So although it is nicer to eat on it's own or where you want your drink/meal coconut flavoured it does tend to overpower other flavours.
There is plenty of evidence it does help many conditions. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

A couple of months ago, I read a thread about using coconut oil for cracked heel and it is great. You soak cotton wool in the oil then place it on the sole of of your heels and then wrap your feet in cling film and leave on for at least half an hour. Your feet come out feeling really soft and moisture!!
I have been thinking about using coconut oil as a body moisturiser and after reading your thread, I probably will.0 -
