Hi, We were thinking of booking a holiday now in order to get it at a cheaper price. We were considering Butlins as we really want our three and a half year old to have a great time. Has anyone been to Butlins in minehead that could give us their opinion, it would be really appreciated.
Many thanks

this would be better on the holidays board
we went to minehead in 2005 and with our sons who were then almost 3 and almost 9
they loved it,the accom was fine and for a 4 night break only cost us £74 for the 4 of us ( this was S/C ) my sister and her family went half board and she wasnt particularly impressed with the food, said is was ok but repetitive and not always hot enough !
if you go expecting 4* then yes you will be disappointed but if you accept it for what it is,a cheesy kids orientated hol you will have a good time
my youngest loves bobs yardand they both liked the swimming poolthe evening entertainment was pretty good too
this year we are going to the Shoreline Hotel in Bognor instead
If you do book, look round on here for codes and if you are with pigsback you can get 500 points for booking or various %ages in cashback on sites like freefivers etc

Thanks, A cheesy kiddie orientated holiday is just what we are looking for. We usually camp so wont be dissapointed with basic accomadation.
Sorry, didnt realize there was a holidays board.0 -
no worries just you might get more replies on there
a board guide may move it for you later0 -
We've been loads of times since ds was a baby (he's now nearly 8 and still loves it!) Think we went 3 times last year (weekend breaks and to see an arena event) and enjoyed each time.
For a 3 1/2 year old its great. Plenty of space to run about in where there aren't any cars. Little trains/cars/teacups/aeroplanes to go on free of charge and they even have Bob the Builder there which is great if they're into that as its amazing to see the real Bob and Wendy:rotfl:
If you go bed and breakfast the restaurant is really child friendly and they even have special plates for childrens food. Its obviously not the healiest of things as there's plenty of chips and stuff on the menu but there is the salad option as well.
The accomodation can be a bit hit and miss. We've found you get what you pay for and try to avoid the budget option as although its clean and servicable its just not what we like whereas the silver level works better for us.
The evening entertainment can be pretty good and there are plenty of space in the venues for a buggy. There are 2 evening entertainement venues plus the skyline so its easy to find something that would interest you for a while before LO wants bed.
The swimming pool is excellent. Its massive with a rectangular area as well as the waves and rapids area. Temperature wise we've found it okay (took our 8week old swimming in there and she was fine)
As has already been said definately sign up for pigsback or similar and get a bit back but as I've said we've been loads and always enjoy ourselves so I'd recommend it0 -
have been going to butlins since i was a child and you can't beat it
The best one we went to accomodation wise was minehead silver pus bungalows they were fab, daughter was 2 1/2 at the time and ideal with bath and shower and table etc.. We usually go twice a year, tried haven etc but the entertainment is not a scratch on butlins
Billy Bear is a real hit with the kids, we tend to go to Bognor as it is close to home, but i always take bits from the kitchen cupboards at home (eg teat bags, cereal, washing up liquid) but all of them have huge tescos right by, the one at minehead has one just before the entrance (if my mind serves me correctly) you can get some cracking deals during mar/apr although the skyline is always cold. looking forward to going this year dd now 4 and baby 13m, watch out for me doing the Billy Walk!!!0 -
we stayed at the donniford bay haven site in september and as they are all the am company and we are ex employees we went round mimehead and it looked well worth the money.
When you go there you should look for the clarks outlet village in street in somerset its a brilliant place and only about a hours drive away.
Have fun.
By the way minehead as in the town is very small and it just has a tescos as the only supermarket.:j WILL GET THERE SOON :j
WATCH OUT FOR THE PIG FLYING PAST!!

We went last July for a week, lovely rooms, kids loved their bunkbeds. If you can afford it, I recommend eating in their restaurant, the food is lovely!
The only downside was that some kid slammed my daughters finger in the gate outside the hotels beer garden. Nearly severed her top half of her finger :eek:If you like it, do it.

The Sun have their holidays for £9.50 starting tomorrow. I think theirs are Pontins or Haven though not Butlins. We have had a couple of breaks with them and they are value for money. We finally did it! Debt free 28/6/10 :T  :T :beer:0

We went last year with a 2 year old and 5 year old there was plenty to occupy both of them. The accommodation wasn't brilliant but perfectly adequate for a short stay.
The swimming pool was great fun and they loved the play fort.
We went half board (well worth paying the extra) and the choice of food was amazing and as its buffet style you can eat as much or as little as you want!
Great fun for kids, the seafront is lovely - plenty of sand for them to run around and get that vital sea air for a peaceful nights sleep!!0
